Spring Senior Athlete Salute - Girls Lacrosse

Morgan Gee

Morgan is the daughter of Harold Gee and Valerie Stout. Showing strength of character by her willingness to try something new in her junior year of high school, she joined Grand Rapids Christian High School girls’ lacrosse and played defense for 1 year on the JV team. However, being unable to play this year due to a lingering injury, Morgan committed instead to apply her positive attitude to serve her teams as a manager during the 2020 season.

JV Coach Ric Bouwma reflected: “Morgan was a great first year addition to the lacrosse program. She showed us extreme perseverance by fighting through injuries, but still continuing to improve throughout the year. My favorite memory of Morgan was not one specific moment, but just watching her confidence grow from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.”

Morgan will attend Calvin University next year with a plan to study elementary education.

Isabela Hernandez-Corretjer

Isabela is the daughter of Angel and Gabriela Hernandez. Although she first picked up a stick and began playing lacrosse as a Sophomore, Izzy’s athleticism and lacrosse skill skills were evident from the start. After playing her first year of lacrosse as a Varsity Plus Player-- splitting her time between the JV and Varsity lacrosse teams-- Izzy’s defensive lacrosse skills landed her a position on the Varsity team for the 2019 and 2020 teams. In 2019, she earned the Individual Academic All-State Award.

Isabela will attend the University of Alabama next year with a plan to study nursing.

Bahati Jura

Bahati is the daughter of Clifton Jura and Jacquelyne Keriako. She began her lacrosse career as a sophomore and 2020 would have been Bahati’s third high school lacrosse season. She played attack for 2 years on the JV team and JV Coach Vicki Young appointed her as a JV  Captain for the 2019 season.

JV Coach Ric Bouwma reflected: “As one of our JV Team captains, Bahati showed her leadership skills on many occasions. She had a way of doing this while making the girls respect her. There are many types of leaders in this world, but the type of person that can garner the respect of their team, tends to get the best results. Bahati was also an integral part of the team last year and was key to our success with many new players. Her experience showed through by her play on the field and that made all the girls around her better. These leadership skills will serve Bahati well in whatever she does in the future.”

Bahati will attend Michigan State University next year with a plan to study pre-law.
