Announcements and Important Events
The tradition for volleyball senior salutes is that their teammates write their salutes and share them with the crowd. Below are those salutes, listing the parents who were at the event.
Lauren Peal – written by Calista Bremer
Parents: Gigi McCauley and Matt Peal
I want to take a moment to reflect on the amazing person Lauren has become and everything she has accomplished throughout these past few years. During my time in high school I have gotten to know Lauren very well and have learned many things about her. Among the that many things I have come to learn about her, the one that that continues to stand out to me is her personality. Lauren is a very kind and caring person who always puts others first, and is someone I can trust with anything. She is very hard-working and is dedicated to making herself the best she possibly can, which is something I think very highly of her for. She is also someone who’s always smiling and brings happiness wherever she goes. If I’m having a bad day I know I can count on her to cheer me up and put a smile on my face. Together Lauren and I have had a lot of fun and have created a long-lasting friendship that I will forever be grateful for. Through this, Lauren and I have created a special connection that allows us to understand each other in ways that nobody else would. There are certain things that will only make us laugh, or certain things that only we would do. There are also things that only we would understand . . . or not. But no matter what, Lauren is a person I always have fun with and can count on with anything. I admire. Her fun-loving personality and I am excited to her grow in her next chapter. For those of you who don’t know, Lauren has committed to Belmont University to continue her volleyball career. I am so proud of you Lauren and can’t wait to see what you accomplish in the future. I am thankful for having someone like you in my life and am beyond happy for everything you have achieved. I wish you didn’t have to leave me, but I know you will do great things in Tennessee. I love you so much.
Elizabeth Rupp – written by Alyssa DeVries
Parents: Julie Way and Steve Rupp
Dear Lizzy Bear, I’m so glad we’ve become closer friends over the years because you are truly one of the most amazing people I know. Elizabeth is someone you can always look to to cheer you up when you are feeling down. I love talking to Elizabeth because we can always understand each other and she never fails to make me laugh. Elizabeth has been a leader this year and is constantly pushing everyone on the team to be the best version of themselves. Elizabeth is a loving, passionate, and enthusiastic person. She is always looking out for others and making sure everyone feels welcome. Elizabeth is focused on her goals and is always working hard which is really inspiring to me. Though I’ve known Elizabeth for a while, we have gotten especially close this year and I am so thankful for that. If I ever need help with anything, I know I can always look to Elizabeth. Elizabeth brings so much joy and laughter to this team, and I can’t imagine how it would be without her. I’m going to miss you so much next year Elizabeth, but I know you are going to do amazing things. Don’t forget to come back and visit so that we can have more apple parties. Thanks for being the best, I love you.
Stephanie Stewart – written by Evie Doezema
Parents: Cherie and Keith Stewart
When Stephanie first came to us her junior year she took our team by storm. If you don’t know Stephanie, she has a crazy amount of energy and personality to the point where our coaches learned how much parenting goes into coaching when they met her. Stephanie is also an unbelievable player. All jokes aside Stephanie is competitive, a hard worker and is ALWAYS asking questions to the point where it drives us crazy. She is constantly working to make herself and her teammates better every day. Stephanie has given us endless laughter and unforgettable moments, and she completes our team. Stephanie, since I’ve met you, you not only have been an amazing teammate but you encourage me and support me every day. I am so incredibly proud of the woman you have become and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for you. I love you Steph.
Addie VanderWeide – written by Evie Doezema
Parent: Cheri DeVos
I remember when I was in middle school, I used to watch Addie play when she was just a freshman, she was my hero. Wearing the blue jersey and playing with all the older girls. That’s who I wanted to be. She was my inspiration to work hard and push myself and that is the kind of example she sets every day. She is a caring person who puts time and effort into all her relationships. This makes Addie an amazing leader on our team as she leads by example, pushing herself and her teammates to be the best they can be. I’ve been able to watch her grow as a player over the years and I’m so proud of who I see before me today. Addie you continue to amaze us in all that you do. God has so much in store for you and I cannot wait to see what your future holds. I love you Addison.
Emerson Williams – written by Alyssa DeVries
Parents: Matt and Lise Williams
Emerson and I have played together over the past 3 years, and over these years she has become one of my best friends and someone that I can always count on. Before I knew her, Emerson and I had played against each other, and at that time I never thought we would become the friends we are today. We always joke about how we are the same person because we are so similar in many ways. I know that everyone else on the team can agree with me when I say that Emerson is the most genuine and kind-hearted person. Emerson is someone who is there for you whenever you need her. If I have ever needed anything, I know Emerson is always one FaceTime call away. Emerson is always being inclusive to others, making them feel loved and important. This is something I appreciate most about her. She has been a listener, encourager, and overall friend to everyone on our team. I know that I can say along with many others that I can’t imagine my life without Emerson. Through many ups and downs, Emerson has always been there for me. I don’t know what I’m gonna do without you next year, but I am so excited to see the great things you’re going to do in your future. I love you Emerson.
