The opening quarter set the tone, with both teams competing at a high level and jockeying for early position. The quarter was played evenly, with the Eagles holding a narrow one point advantage 15-14 heading into the second .
Grand Rapids Christian established momentum early in the second quarter, finding rhythm from the three point line and executing offensively. That surge allowed the Eagles to take a 28–22 lead into halftime, playing with discipline on both ends of the floor.
Defense proved to be the difference in the second half. The Eagles’ focus and commitment on the defensive end fueled their offense. The strong third quarter, is where Grand Rapids Christian scored 28 points to extend the lead to 56–45 entering the 4th quarter.
The final quarter showcased the Eagles’ composure. Playing with patience and poise, they controlled the tempo and forced West Ottawa to play at their pace. Down the stretch, the Eagles executed efficiently on both ends, closing out the game and securing the road victory 75-55.
Grand Rapids Christian was led by Carl Thompson with 27 points, while Braylon Taylor added 15 points. Carter Beimers-Helbich provided a key spark off the bench, knocking down timely three pointers and finishing with 9 points. Senior Ajak Gieu had a great game chipping in with 9 points.
The Eagles return to action Tuesday night against Forest Hills Eastern.
