The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles secured their first victory of the young season a home against the Wyoming Wolves.
The game began with a competitive pace, ending the first quarter with the Eagles holding a slight 18-16 edge. In the second quarter, the Eagles faced challenges finding their offensive rhythm, primarily due to unforced turnovers. Furthermore, the defense struggled to limit the Wolves' effective rebounding and scoring opportunities. Despite these hurdles, the Eagles maintained composure to take a manageable five point lead into halftime, 35-30.
The second half saw the Eagles establish better offensive flow, particularly in the third quarter where they put up 23 points while conceding 20 to the Wolves. This effort extended the lead to 58-50 heading into the final quarter. The team managed the pressure in the fourth quarter, converting several crucial free throws down the stretch to seal a hard-fought 74-63 victory over the Wolves.The Eagles demonstrated balanced scoring, featuring four players reaching double digits:
Senior Connor Johnson led all scorers with 20 points. Carl Thompson finished with 14 points while Braylon Taylor contributed 11 points. Senior Ajak Gieu finished with 10 points and Will Doezema chipped in with 7 points.
The Eagles will return home Tuesday for a great matchup against the Hudsonville Eagles.
