The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles secured a decisive home win against the Forest Hills Red Hawks, showcasing strong defensive intensity from the opening tip.
The Eagles established immediate control, locking down the Red Hawks and holding them to just five points in the opening quarter. The offense found a strong rhythm, scoring 16 points to take an 16-5 lead after one. The momentum continued into the second quarter, where the Eagles capitalized on ball movement and unforced errors to pour in 22 points, extending their advantage to a commanding 38-14 halftime lead.
Coming out of the break, the Eagles started the second half slowly, allowing the Red Hawks a 17-point quarter while the Eagles managed 12. Despite this dip, the Eagles maintained a comfortable 50-31 lead heading into the final quarter. The advantage allowed the Eagles to utilize their reserves in the 4th quarter. The reserves delivered a strong performance, scoring 17 points to close out the game and secure the 67-42 victory over the Red Hawks.
This was a true team effort, highlighted by contributions from numerous players who found their way into the scorebook. Senior Carl Thompson led all scorers with 20 points, Braylon Taylor finished with 15 points. Connor Johnson and Mason Abbott each chipped in with 5 points.
The Eagles will now prepare for a road matchup this Friday against the Northview Wildcats.
