The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles would tipoff against the Paw Paw Red Wolves squad at the Cornerstone Holiday tournament. Ultimately, falling in the final minute 59-57 with a shot to win the game.
The Eagles established a offensive rhythm early, putting on a display in the opening quarter. Behind efficient scoring and disciplined play, the team surged to a 23-13 lead by the end of the 1st quarter. However, the momentum shifted in the 2nd quarter as the Red Wolves found their offensive stride, outscoring the Eagles 22-14. Despite the push from Paw Paw, the Eagles maintained a 37-35 lead at the halftime break.
The 3rd quarter proved to be a defensive battle, and the Eagles struggled to find consistent looks, totaling five points in the period. This allowed the Red Wolves to capitalize and take a 47-42 advantage heading into the final quarter.
In 4th quarter, the game became a back and forth affair with both teams trading critical baskets. The Eagles fought until the very end, earning a final opportunity to win the game on the last shot, but the attempt unfortunately fell short. The result was a tough two point loss, but the team will have to find ways to win while not having Carl Thompson in the lineup.
