The Eagles traveled to Detroit this week to compete in the Motor City Roundball Classic, delivering a statement performance against the River Rouge Panthers.
The Eagles opened the contest with high intensity, establishing a dominant presence on both ends of the floor. The defense was exceptional in the 1st quarter, holding the Panthers to just six points, while the offense operated with great rhythm to build an early 17-7 lead. The 2nd quarter saw River Rouge adjust and find their offensive stride but the Eagles showed great composure, moving the ball effectively to maintain a 28-23 lead at the halftime break.
The 3rd quarter proved to be a turning point, as the Eagles would use their size advantage. By consistently playing through the post and scoring quick points in the paint, the Eagles wore down the Panthers' interior defense. This inside out approach, combined with rebounding allowed Grand Rapids Christian Eagles to extend their lead to 48-36 heading into the final quarter.
The momentum continued into the final quarter. The Eagles' defense remained relentless, and the bench provided a massive spark, executing the game plan to perfection. Outscoring the Panthers 21-10 in the final period, the Eagles closed the game in convincing fashion to secure a 69-46 victory.
