The Grand Rapids Christian Varsity Eagles came up short in a tough 57–47 loss to the Catholic Central Cougars, but not without showing resilience and heart against a solid opponent.
After a slow start, the Eagles found their rhythm in the second quarter, battling back to take a 25–23 lead into halftime. Catholic Central controlled the pace in the second half, but the Eagles continued to fight until the final buzzer.
Charley Hassenrik led the Eagles with 19 points while adding 4 steals, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Lilah Poel followed with a strong performance, scoring 17 points and grabbing 8 rebounds to go along with 2 steals. Lydia Ydenberg contributed on the defensive end with 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.
The girls look to rebound on Friday night away at Ottawa Hills.
