Varsity Eagles Dominate Behind Stifling Defense

The Varsity Eagles earned a dominant win Friday night, setting the tone early with a suffocating defensive performance. The Eagles controlled the gaps all night, giving the Hawks of Forest Hills Eastern constant trouble and never allowing them to find a rhythm.
Lilah Poel led the way with an outstanding double-double, finishing with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Charley Hassenrik paced the offense with 13 points and added four steals on the defensive end. Alexis Willis contributed five points, two steals, and an assist.
Defensively, Lydia Ydenberg and Keira Dawes each recorded two blocks, with Ydenberg also pulling down five rebounds.
The Eagles earned the well-deserved victory and will be back on the road Tuesday when they take on Forest Hills Northern.
