The boys’ cross country team hosted the Kent Ottawa Invitational, turning a beautiful fall morning at Gainey into a strategic tune-up before their Conference Finals on Wednesday. With the option to run either the 3200m Short Course or the 5k Long Course, each runner was able to choose the distance that best prepared them.

In the 3200m Short Course, Sean Ryan ran a phenomenal race to take the individual victory! He led a strong pack of Eagles who dominated the top 20: Ashton Fink (5th), James Scholten-Holcomb (9th), Seth Sytsma (12th), Elias Dejong (13th), Micah Small (17th), and Jonathan Falk (20th).

In the 5k Long Course, the Eagles showed great heart. Isaiah Lindstrom led the team with a 17th-place finish. Isaac Witte had a great performance, running a personal record (PR) to finish 32nd. He was closely followed by Sam DeYoung (33rd) and Micah Manion (35th). Congratulations are also due to John DeYoung, Titus Plattner, Andrew Cho, and Jake Mennega, who all secured new PRs!

The successful day gives the team strong momentum heading into the OK White Conference Finals meet at Riverside Park on Wednesday.
