The girls' cross country team traveled south to the famous Portage Invitational on Saturday. The day began before dawn for the JV squad, who were hoping to beat the heat by racing at 8:15 am. Taking advantage of the ideal, cool morning conditions and with a strong sense of focus, the JV Eagles captured first place in a dominant performance. The JV girls put on a clinic in front-running, with the team placing five runners in the top ten. Alena Sportel led the charge, finishing in 2nd place, closely followed by Willa Peterson (3rd), Cora Boonstra (5th), Vivi Duncan (7th), and Mia Roe (9th). The team's depth was truly spectacular, as every single JV runner secured a spot in the top 50, earning a coveted Portage Invite medal.

Several hours later, the conditions had dramatically changed as the Varsity Eagles toed the line. With the heat building, intense sun, and constant clouds of dust rising on the course, fast times were tough to come by. Despite the punishing elements, the varsity squad showed grit and resilience, battling their way to a strong third-place finish among 46 Division 2 teams. Lilah Poel led the way, securing a 17th-place finish, followed by Annika TerBeek (27th), Ellie Scholma (33rd), Zoe Hoekstra (42nd), Lucy Waalkes (49th), Eva Lindstrom (50th), and Maggie Scholma (56th). 

The Eagles return to action on Saturday when they host the Kent Ottawa Invite.
