Girls Cross Country Soar to an OK White Conference Championship Title

On a beautiful fall afternoon at Riverside Park, the girls' cross country team captured both the final OK White Conference meet victory and the overall OK White Conference XC Championship title. The team's depth and collective determination were on full display as they absolutely overpowered the competition, winning the decisive final conference race with an astonishing 36 points, far ahead of the second-place team's 74.
The victory was truly a team effort, highlighting the program's impressive depth from top to bottom. The Eagles placed an amazing nine runners inside the top 20, effectively shutting down any chance for their rivals to challenge the outcome. Leading the charge was Lilah Poel, who secured a phenomenal 3rd place finish. She was immediately followed by a powerful pack that included Zoe Hoekstra in 4th, Ellie Scholma in 7th, Lucy Waalkes in 10th, and Annika TerBeek in 12th, completing the team’s top five scorers.
Beyond the scoring five, the Eagles continued to pour on the pressure, demonstrating the deep talent pool that fueled their championship run. The next wave of finishers included Eva Lindstrom (13th), Maggie Scholma (18th), Sonia Tatko (19th), and Gwyn Artz (20th), ensuring nine runners earned top-20 honors. This massive presence at the front of the race is a testament to the team's training and competitive spirit. Further adding to the success were strong outings from Alena Sportel (23rd) and Joy Van Wyk (24th). The celebratory news didn't stop with the team title: a jaw-dropping 20 girls ran new Personal Records (PRs), demonstrating grit and determination across the entire roster. Here are the 20 who PR'd:
