In the second game of the Gull Lake invite, the boys faced the host team in a match that would be shortened to 15 minute halves due to the extreme heat on the turf field. Will Bush was played in behind the defense early on and sent a well-placed, bending effort that was destined for the top corner, only to have the Gull Lake keeper make a finger-tip save to keep it out. Despite some other quality chances in the first 15 minute period, the Eagles could not find the back of the net.
The second half slowed down considerably as both teams wore down with temperatures well over 100 degrees on the field. The match would end 0-0 and Alex Nelson would claim the clean-sheet in goal.
The Eagles now move on to face defending division 1 finalist Byron Center in a match at Eagle Stadium on Tuesday at 7:30pm.
