The Varsity Eagles traveled to Catholic Central to take on the Cougars on a perfect evening for soccer. After a scoreless first half, the Eagles came to life in the second half when Max Visser pounced on a loose ball in the Cougars' box and headed home to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Liam Jansen would extend the lead when his free kick from the left flank found the back of the net. The Cougars would respond with a set piece goal of their own to cut the deficit to 2-1; however, Jansen would restore the two-goal cushion with a stunning strike off another free kick to finish the scoring and give the Eagles a 3-1 victory. The defensive unit stood tall on the night and Josh Dykema and Alex Nelson combined in goal for the win.
The Eagles return to the field on Monday when they host Ottawa Hills on senior night at Eagle Stadium at 7:30. Seniors will be recognized after the conclusion of the match on Monday night. Go Eagles!
