The Eagles hosted the Pioneers from East Grand Rapids for the last regular season match and the final match at home for the seniors.   The home side got off to a challenging start when they conceded just over one minute into the match.  Midway through the first half, the match was halted due to lightning.  After a nearly one hour delay, the teams got back on the field to continue the battle for the Memorial Cup, which remembers Leighton Parnham from East Grand Rapids and Christian Ouding from Grand Rapids Christian.   The first half would end with the Pioneers holding onto the 1-0 lead.

The Eagles were determined to come out in the second half and apply pressure to the visitors.  After numerous close calls, including shots that rung off the post and crossbar, William Bush leveled the match for the Eagles when he headed home from a Seth Rozema corner.  From there, it was all Eagles as Liam Jansen scored two consecutive goals off brilliant strikes.  Marcus Jenkins would add to the delight as he came on late to score his first varsity goal after being pulled up from the JV squad.   The Eagles would retain the Cup and celebrate a 4-1 victory on a memorable night at Eagle Stadium.   Josh Dykema earned the victory in goal.

The Eagles open MHSAA tournament play on Thursday when they travel to Lowell to face the Red Arrows at 6pm.
