The Eagles travelled to East Grand Rapids on Friday evening. The Eagles got off to a flying start when Charley Hassenrik placed a free-kick perfectly to the far corner of the goal to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. Despite some near misses, including shots off the post from Hassenrik and Lydia Ydenberg, the half would end with a narrow 1-0 advantage.
The Eagles controlled much of the play in the early stages of the second half, but could not find the insurance goal they desired. It wasn't until Hassenrik flicked a Vivi Duncan clearance over the head of the Pioneer keeper and into the back of the net late in the game to give the Eagles the goal they desired and a 2-0 victory on the road. Rogue Tholen and Natalie Hutt combined in goal to earn another clean-sheet.
The Eagles return to the pitch on Wednesday when they will honor their seniors before kick off against Ottawa Hills. Senior players will be recognized around 7:35pm, with first-kick at 7:45.
