Exacting a bit of revenge for a 4-4 tie last year, the Eagles took down the Hawks from Forest Hills Eastern on enemy turf by a 6-2 score. The Singles led the way for the Eagles as Simon Volkema had a hard-fought, gritty 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) win at #1 Singles. Alex Lowell had an equally grueling and impressive win at #2, getting stretched to three sets and coming out victorious 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. Alex Cook was very business-like, dispatching his Hawk opponent at #3 6-3, 6-1, while Eli Kuiper grinded out a win at #4 Singles 6-4, 6-2.
On the Doubles front, the #1 team of Grant Moorhead and Tanner Warners continued their unbeaten streak, taking down the Hawks 6-2, 6-4. Cade Boender and Owen Greer rounded out the scoring for the Eagles with an impressive win at #4 doubles, toppling FHE with a "closer than the score indicates" win of 6-4, 6-2. Overall, it was a great day for the Eagles to solidify second place in the OK Gold.
Next up is the tough Allegan Invitational on Saturday, where they will see a number of State-ranked opponents in a final tune-up before the Conference tournament.
