In an epic OK-White battle between two Division-3 top ten teams, the Eagles came away with a huge 5-3 victory on the road at the Canepa courts of EGR.  Every flight was hotly contested and the emotion was high.  The fans (including Sra. Klaver) were not disappointed.

The singles flights carried the torch for the Eagles, led by Seniors Simon Volkema and Alex Cook at 1 and 2 Singles respectively, hammering their opponents to set the tone.  Both of them won by dominating scores of 6-0, 6-2.  Lucas Pinon continued the onslaught, winning a clutch match 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5).  Freshman Callum Campbell secured at least a tie for the visiting team by winning a hard-fought match at 4-singles 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).

In the doubles action, the matches were equally tough, but 3 and 4-doubles went to the Pioneers.  Cade Boender and Sir Charles Walters were incredibly tough after losing their first set 6-0 and found themselves down 4-1 in their second set before battling back to win 5 straight games and forcing a third set which they eventually suffered a tough loss in 3 sets 0-6, 6-4,4-6.  Tanner Warners and Dream Kwon secured the win with an exciting two-hour two-set match 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-3) win to secure the HUGE win for the Eagles.

It was the second year in a row that the Eagles have dispatched perennial powerhouse EGR.  There is no rest for the victors as the Eagles face Greenville Tuesday in another OK-White matchup and then Division 2  juggernaut Forest Hills Central (ranked #3 in Division 2) in another must-win match on Wednesday.  Both of these matches are at 4:15 at Gainey.
