The Varsity Eagles competed hard on Thursday afternoon, losing 2-6 to Hudsonville on the road.

• At 1 singles, Ben Franzkoch, recovering from sickness, dropped a tough decision 6-1,6-0 to a very good opponent.
• At 2 singles, Ben Romero made his Eagles debut, losing 6-0,6-1 finding his form as the match progressed.
• At 3 singles, Nathanial Zwart stood strong against his toughest opponent of the year, losing 6-0,6-3 with an impressive second set.
• At 4 singles, James Vandenbosch struggled out of the gate but found his stride as the match went on, losing 6-0,6-1.
• At 1 doubles, Will Deblecourt and Banks McNinch lost a thrilling first set and match, 6-7(3), 3-6.
• At 2 doubles, in another thrilling matchup, Charlie Baker and Eli Setlock lost their first match of the season 6-4, 5-7, 3-10
• At 3 doubles, Elijah Kuiper and Henry Kraay continue to show their strong chemistry with a big 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 victory.
• At 4 doubles, the first time grouping of Nick Welch and Charlie Kooistra won a close but decisive three set victory, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7.
• At 5 doubles, Jonah Mulder and Jackson Amash played two close sets but could not pull it off, losing 2-6, 3-6.
• At 6 doubles, Charlie Brandt and Zach Devos played great after a slow start, losing in a third set breaker 1-6, 6-2, 3-10.

Next up for the Eagles is a busy couple of days beginning with their first home match of the season against Catholic Central, 4:15pm @ Gainey. On Saturday, the Eagles travel to Zeeland East for a day of tennis.
