Boys Varsity Tennis vs. Multiple Opponents

The Eagles had a busy week competing in 4 duals over the weekend, beginning on Friday versus Catholic Central (6-2 W) and then Saturday versus Jenison (2-6 L), Zeeland East (3-5 L) and East Kentwood (6-2 W).
In their first home dual of the season versus Catholic Central, the Eagles came out strong and clinched the match quickly. Highlighted by decisive wins from all 4 doubles teams and a fantastic statement win at 3 Singles from Senior Nathanial Zwart to clinch the match.
On to Saturday, the Eagles began their day with a test against Jenison losing 2-6. Sophomore Jackson Amash looked good in his first singles match of the season. The Captain duo at 1 Doubles (Banks McNinch and Will Deblecourt) won a thrilling match with a second set tiebreak. Juniors Henry Kraay and Elijah Kuiper continued their success with a clean straight set victory.
The second match of the day found the Eagles traveling to Zeeland East for a windy battle, losing a CLOSE 3-5 match. 5 out of 8 matches went to a third set tiebreak, including all 4 doubles and 3 singles. Junior Ben Franzkoch found his form in a quality straight set victory at 1 Singles. Freshman Charlie Brandt and Senior Jonah Mulder impressed in their first singles action. Eli Setlock and Charlie Baker lost an entertaining battle by inches at 2 Doubles. The duo of Nick Welch and Charlie Kooistra had a great comeback at 4 doubles, winning in the tiebreak.
The last match of the day was a good one against East Kentwood, a 6-2 victory for the Eagles. Wins at all 4 doubles positions and 2 singles positions made it a quality end to the day. Senior Aaron Dahlberg and Freshman Zach DeVos battled hard in their first singles action of the season. The Junior duo at 3 Doubles with another win, finishing the day at 3-0.
Next up for the Eagles is an away match against Forest Hills Central on Monday.
