Our GRC Varsity Girls Tennis team opened the season at home against South Christian, setting the tone right away with a strong and focused performance. Our singles lineup led the charge, showing consistency and composure across all four flights only dropping 4 total games. Ida Mertens had a standout debut at 2 singles with a commanding win in her first match with the Eagles. Across the board, our singles players stayed positive, competed point by point, and put themselves in a great position with smart, disciplined play.

Our doubles teams matched that effort with strong communication and trust in each other, especially in key moments when matches got tight. They responded well when facing early deficits, adjusting their approach and looking for opportunities to be aggressive. Meg Vandenberg and Adelyn Breuninger stood out at 3 doubles, playing steady tennis and showing how practice habits can translate directly into match play while still enjoying the experience. Coming away with our first win of the season on our home courts makes it even more meaningful. It was a complete team effort and a strong start to what we’re building this season.
