On Saturday, the Eagles traveled to Rockford High School for the annual Rockford Rumble and brought home an impressive second-place finish among nine of the top teams in the state!
The day started strong with a 2-0 sweep over Traverse City West. Up next was a high-stakes match against #6 Division 1-ranked Jenison High School, with a spot in the gold bracket on the line. After a narrow first-set loss, the Eagles stormed back in set two, fueled by long serving runs from Piper Cebulski and Rylee Anderson, along with smart, aggressive play at the net. The deciding third set went into overtime, where Elise Renz sealed the win with two clutch aces.
This victory secured the Eagles a place in the Gold Bracket, where they faced Mattawan High School and came away with another 2-0 win.
In the championship match, the Eagles took on #1-ranked Rockford High School in a hard-fought battle. Despite a strong offensive showing and back-and-forth rallies, the Eagles fell just short with scores of 19–25 and 21–25, finishing second overall.
The Eagles now turn their focus to their home opener this Tuesday (9/8) at 6:00 PM at the Quest Center. Come out and support!
