The Eagles are FINAL FOUR bound!
With grit, composure, and championship-level determination, the Eagles punched their ticket to Kellogg Arena and the State Semifinals after a thrilling five-set victory over Tecumseh, winning 3–2 with set scores of 25–16, 20–25, 25–20, 23–25, 15–9.
The Eagles came out firing in Set 1, executing clean first contacts and powering through with a dominant front-row attack. Their fast tempo and physicality proved unstoppable as they closed the set with a commanding 25–16 win.
Tecumseh responded in Set 2 with relentless defense, forcing GRC to battle for every point. A few costly service errors opened the door for Tecumseh, who evened the match. But the Eagles answered right back in Set 3, regaining control with disciplined serve-receive, a re-energized offense, and strong blocking that kept rallies alive and shifted momentum back in their favor.
Set 4 brought another swing of emotion as a handful of key Tecumseh runs created separation. Despite a determined push from the Eagles, Tecumseh edged out the 25–23 win, sending the match to a decisive fifth set.
But the Eagles were unfazed. Having been tested in fifth sets throughout the season, they surged ahead early behind tough serving and a powerful offensive rhythm. Forcing Tecumseh out of system, the Eagles seized control and never looked back, closing out the final set 15–9 to clinch their spot in the State Semifinals.
Stat Leaders:
-Grace Goodyke delivered another standout performance, earning her third double-double of the season with 17 kills, 11 digs, and an impressive 7 aces.
-Maddie Landheer provided major offensive firepower with 9 kills and a .433 hitting percentage.
-Mya McKinnon anchored the defense with 4 blocks, while Goodyke, Piper Cebulski, and Sylvia Setsma added 3 blocks each.
-Rylee Anderson commanded the serve-receive line with a 2.4 passing average, paving the way for setters Taylor Frost and Piper Cebulski to run the offense. Frost finished with a team-high 27 assists.
The Eagles now advance to Kellogg Arena for the State Semifinals, where they will face #1-ranked Country Day at 12:00 PM.
Be there. Be loud. Let’s pack the arena!
