LOWELL HIGH SCHOOL: 10
Eagles Varsity opened their season dominating over Lowell 18 - 10. Despite the two-year gap in play, the team played excellently! Goals were scored by Niya Couch (5), Lili Bouwma (4) freshman Elizabeth Mehney (4), Kiera Zylstra (4), and Katie Winkle. Assists were credited to Kiera Zylstra (5), Lili Bouwma (4). Midfielder Halle Couch was credited with winning 10 and controlling 3 draws. Attackers Niya Couch and Lili Bouwma both were credited with winning and controlling 1 draw each. Sophomore goalie Annika DeKraker was credited with 5 saves. Defensive player of the game was Maggie Doyle for her 4 caused turnovers, 1 ground ball, and overall hustle on the field. The team’s Ground Hog Award was given to junior Niya Couch for her good work scooping up 5 ground balls. Way to go Eagles!!
