GR Christian 16 – Wayland Union 41

The Eagles ran into a tough opponent this week in the Wildcats. After Wayland scored on their opening possession, GRC answered with two 30+ yard completions from Bradley Nuiver to Cooper Brisbane, driving inside the 5-yard line before a fumble ended the threat. The defense responded with a key fourth-down sack by Jacob Bierling, setting up a 22-yard TD pass from Nuiver to Brisbane. A conversion to Wyatt Stuit gave the Eagles an 8–7 lead, but Wayland added a late score to lead 13–8 at halftime.

The second half was marred by turnovers that gave Wayland short fields, and the Wildcats capitalized. Despite the struggles, GRC’s defense kept fighting—Zeke Sare scooped a fumble and sprinted 66 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, with Nuiver hitting Stuit for the conversion to close the scoring at 41–16.

Nuiver threw for 134 yards and a TD, with Brisbane (92 yards, 1 TD) and Stuit (42 yards) leading the receivers. Bierling posted 9 solo tackles, 2 for loss, and a sack, while Sare added 7 tackles and the defensive TD. Cole VanderBaan contributed 7 tackles as well.

The loss evens the Eagles’ record at 4–4 with one game remaining—a home matchup next Thursday against Holland Christian. Go Eagles!
