The JV boys soccer team beat East Grand Rapids last night 2-0. The Eagles started off strong with a high press that EGR could not play through, which allowed the majority of the first half to be played in the middle and final third. 20 minutes in, Abel Aleme dribbled past 3 guys in the midfield and played Marcus Jenkins II in on goal, who calmly finished his chance in the bottom right corner. A few minutes later, the Pioneers had a breakaway chance but Eagles first half Goalkeeper Nico Mucci came up with a huge save to keep the game at 1-0. The second goal came with 2 minutes left in the half after a long period of possession by the Eagles. Mark Sheldon received the ball in the right channel, on the half turn, and curled a ball around the EGR back line to Marcus Jenkins II running through, who then turned 2 defenders and finished in the bottom left corner.
