The Eagles boys volleyball team rebounded from a disappointing loss on Thursday in resounding fashion, winning the inaugural West Ottawa Invitational Tournament on Saturday. Grand Rapids Christian cruised through their morning pool with 2-0 victories against Mona Shores and Northpointe Christian (25-7, 25-10 and 25-10, 25-17), en route to the #1 overall seed for the afternoon. They then dispatched Caledonia and Spring Lake in dominating fashion (25-14, 25-18 and 25-12, 25-11) to claim the title. This is a statement victory for the Eagles, dominating the field with a total set record of 8-0, and doubling up their opponents in total points by a tally of 200-99. Grand Rapids Christian's offense was clicking on all cylinders, orchestrated by Eli Wise's superb setting distribution. Wise collected his 1000th varsity assist against Caledonia - the first Eagle to achieve that feat. Particularly unstoppable on Saturday were Senior Opposite Constantine Kim and Junior Middle Blocker A.J. Warren. Kim posted a stunning offensive stat line of 24 kills against just 4 errors, for a hitting efficiency of 0.455 for the tournament. Warren was a force offensively and defensively, finishing with the day with 11 kills (1 error, 0.476 efficiency) and 8 blocks. Next up for Grand Rapids Christian is a non-conference quad in Grand Haven on Tuesday.
