Grand Rapids Christian headed to Unity Christian on Tuesday afternoon for a conference Tri with Unity and Caledonia. They left with two victories, remaining undefeated in conference play - pushing their record to 11-0. In the opener, the Eagles defeated host Unity Christian 25-14, 25-15. Will Vanden Berg and A.J. Warren provided decisive serving runs in the 1st and 2nd sets respectively, as GRC pulled away from the Crusaders late in each set. Alex Nelson led the Eagles with 8 kills.
In their second match, Grand Rapids Christian defeated Caledonia 25-16, 25-11. Nelson again led the Eagles with 9 kills (and 11 digs), and Jack Scholten had 6 kills on 0.500 hitting for the match. Xander Leatherman got the start at Middle Blocker in Set 2, and responded with 2 kills and a block.
Next up for the Eagles is a home matchup with Potter's House for GRC's Senior Night game on Thursday evening. Seniors will be celebrated just ahead of the 6:00 start.
