Girls Varsity Basketball Beats South Christian in the District Final

Eagles Win: 43 - 31
The girls' varsity team came out firing Friday night in a non-conference rematch against the Sailors. The Eagles were determined for a District trophy and they made it happen from the start going into a 24-7 lead at halftime. Katelyn Larue and Hannah Sall dominated offensively with great assists and rebounds added from Lydia Sall. The defensive front was an intense battle led by Emma Van Goor and Sofie Hulst. Larue led on offense with 16 points followed by Hannah Sall with 13. This team win was electric and was a very exciting last home game that ended with a celebratory net cutting. The Eagles advance to 16-6 on the season and will compete for the regional semifinal on Tuesday night at Orchard View High School at 7 pm.

Eagles Win: 43 - 33
Friday night the Eagles closed out their regular season under the lights at FHN. Right away the Eagles took it to the Huskies on offense with big baskets from Katelyn Larue and Sofie Hulst. Emma Van Goor continues to lead the defensive front with forced turnovers and quick transitions. Even with a slower second quarter, the Eagles went into halftime on top. Hannah Sall hit a stride coming out in the 3rd and Van Goor converted on her breakaways. Hulst added some needed pressure and the Eagles found themselves in a better position going into the 4th up 9. Then they put them away in the 4th with lockdown defense and 6 Eagles in the scoring column. Hannah Sall finished with 11 points followed by Larue and Hulst each with 10. The Eagles finished the regular season 14-6 and second in conference! This was a huge accomplishment in a very strong, Division 1 dominated OK White. The Eagles are back after the Monday bye with a District semi-final Wednesday night in the Quest at 7 pm.

Eagles Lose: 53 - 59
The Varsity girls had their work cut out for them Tuesday night as they faced a vengeful Red Arrow squad. However, from the start it seemed the game would fall in the Eagles' favor as Hannah Sall started out dominant on offense and Sofie Hulst was lockdown on defense. The Eagles went into halftime up 8, but Lowell came out swinging in the second half. While the Eagles found some difficulty in the foul column, Lydia Sall gave some great bursts in the second half to keep GRC in the game. With Lowell finding a way to remain nearly spotless from the foul line, the Eagles could not manage to make up for it on offense. Lydia Sall led the way with 19 points, Hannah Sall added 10 and Sofie Hulst added 7 points and 9 rebounds. The girls return Friday night at FHN for their final regular season matchup.

Eagles Win: 64 - 53
The Eagles were able to go 2-0 against another conference opponent as they closed out FHC Friday night. Once again Katelyn LaRue put the Eagles on pace to score 80 with a hot hand in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles went into halftime up 39-33 with LaRue already scoring 18. Hannah Sall brought her quiet consistency in the second half to help the Eagles stay ahead. Sofie Hulst added big baskets and some great assists as well, finishing with 9 points. LaRue finished as the game high once again with 26 and Hannah Sall followed with 15. The Eagles have two regular season games remaining beginning with Lowell on the road Tuesday.

Eagles Lose: 44 - 53
The Varsity girls traveled to Byron Center for a rematch against our most difficult conference matchup. The Eagles came out firing and from the first possession found impressive defensive stops. Byron Center struggled to score because of the lockdown defense led by Emma Van Goor and Katelyn LaRue. The Eagles converted to offense well with Katelyn LaRue finding knock down baskets and the team being patient for good shots. The Bulldogs were not able to keep LaRue under control and the game went into halftime tied at 20. The third quarter had some back and forth action with BC on top by one. However Van Goor continued to add outstanding pressure and LaRue found some more three pointers. Hannah Sall attacked the rim and went 4-4 from the foul line to keep us in the game. However the Bulldogs found themselves winning by 2 with less than 2 to play and the Eagles had to challenge them at the free throw line. They rose to the challenge and were able to close down the game in their favor. This was an outstanding team performance led by a 22 point game from LaRue. The Eagles are back at home Friday night against FHC. 
Girls Varsity Basketball Comes Out on Top vs. East Grand Rapids

Eagles Win: 51 - 43
The Varsity Eagles came out on fire Friday night going on a 10-0 run to start the first quarter. Emma Van Goor led the team on defense and the Eagles dominated on the boards. The Eagles went into halftime up 22-10 and did not stop there. Katelyn LaRue was automatic in transition and also automatic from the free throw line going 10/12 from there. Hannah Sall was a beast on the glass and finished with 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Lydia Sall added 6 assists. LaRue finished as the leading scorer with the game high 23 and the Eagles were able to put away EGR for the first time this season. The varsity girls are back Tuesday night away at Byron Center.

Eagles Win: 64 - 35
The Girls Varsity team continues their conference roll with a commanding victory over Northview Tuesday night. The Eagles are hitting their stride with three starters in double figures, 9 Eagles in the scoring column, and a defense that had Northview struggling. Hannah Sall came out strong again putting away 9 points in the first quarter many of which assisted by her sister. Lydia added her own 6 in the first 8 minutes. Katelyn LaRue found her normal pace with great passing and layups in transition. Lydia Sall wanted a spotlight spot and scored 13 in the second half to finish as the team leader on the night with 21 points. Lydia also added 5 assists and 8 rebounds. The Eagles now sit at 11-4, second in conference and will face a big conference rival at home Friday night. 
Girls Varsity Basketball Sweeps Greenville

Eagles Win: 56 - 35
The Varsity team was ready to knock down Greenville for the second time this week and Katelyn LaRue made sure of that right from tipoff putting away three early baskets. Hannah Sall caught the scoring bug and absolutely took over in the second quarter scoring 15 points in those 8 minutes to end with 24 as the game high scorer. The Eagles did not let up after half with 6 Eagles finding the scoring column in the third. Sofie Hulst contributed largely in assists and LaRue finished with 12 points and 6 assists. The Eagles are back Tuesday night against Northview.

Eagles Win: 50 - 33
The Eagles traveled to Greenville High School to close out the first round of conference play on Tuesday night. Katelyn LaRue stepped up from the first minute with great offense against a tight zone. Hannah Sall felt the energy and absolutely dominated the second quarter scoring 10 points in just those 8 minutes. Sall went into halftime having already recorded a double-double. The Eagles let that propel them and they tired Greenville out and pulled away in the third. All 11 Eagles saw the court in the 4th with some solid looks and defensive stops from Alexia Meeuwsen and Sofie Hulst. Hannah Sall finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Lydia Sall matched her sister with a double-double adding 11 points and 11 rebounds. Katelyn LaRue and Zion Belcher-Arill also both added 10 points. The Eagles are back Friday night against Greenville at home.

Eagles Win: 52 - 43
The Eagles and the Huskies came out ready to battle Friday night. From the start the Eagles found themselves behind, but they fought hard to stay in the game. Going into halftime down 5 they decided not to give up and they took over on defense right away. They were able to lockdown as a defensive unit and Zion Belcher-Arill took over on offense sinking her 3rd and 4th 3 pointers in the third. Belcher-Arill finished with 20 as the high scorer and Katelyn LaRue added needed ball movement and also 12 points. LaRue and Belcher-Arill also went nearly spotless from the foul line in the second half. It was a great team comeback at primetime Friday night. The Eagles are back to competition at Greenville on Tuesday night.

Eagles Win: 67 - 50
The Girls Varsity team came out firing on all cylinders Tuesday night, ready to win against a tough conference opponent. The Eagles found big stops on defense and ran a patient yet aggressive offense that put the Eagles ahead 12 going into halftime. The big second quarter run was led by freshman Zion Belcher-Arill who scored 12 points in the second. She continued the offensive runs with great rebounds as well and finished as the leading scorer with 21 points. Katelyn LaRue also added some great assists and 16 points, Hannah Sall also had 11. The Eagles will return Friday night against Forest Hills Northern at home.

Eagles Win: 67 - 47
The Varsity Eagles came into the Rangers home gym with a lockdown game plan on Friday night and it showed right from tip off. Emma VanGoor led the Eagles in their impressive defensive efforts shutting down their star with quick feet and denying any Ranger offensive opportunities. Hannah Sall and Katelyn LaRue made it count on the other end with 20 and 19 points respectively. It was a fantastic team win with great contributions from Sofie Hulst and Lydia Sall as well. The Eagles are back next week with more conference action at home Tuesday night against the Red Arrows.

Eagles Lose: 35 - 57
The Varsity Bulldogs traveled to the Quest Center with some sharpshooting and the Eagles struggled to stay competitive from the beginning. However Sofie Hulst had a couple great shots from the beginning and the Eagles were able to tie up the Bulldogs on defense going into the half down 17. Katelyn LaRue came alive in the third quarter with back to back 3 balls and finished with 10 points. Lydia Sall also added a quiet 11. The Eagles are back Friday night with another conference matchup against Forest Hills Central.

Eagles Lose: 53 - 59
The Eagles traveled just down the road to our cross town rivals East Grand Rapids Friday night. While the Eagles found themselves down by 9 in the first quarter, there were some young leaders that emerged to bring them back into the game. Freshman Zion Belcher-Arill entered the game to contribute a great 3 pointer to add momentum and Freshman Sofie Hulst took over to start the third quarter. Hulst continued this energy scoring all 12 of her points in the second half. Katelyn Larue added her steady fire as the lead scorer on the night again with 17 points. The Eagles will be able to host the Pioneers again in the second round of conference play and will be eager for a win.

Eagles Lose: 27 - 33
The Eagles had a slow start in the championship game of the Cornerstone tournament and were not able to make up for it Wednesday night. The Eagles found some stops on defense with a great effort led by captain Katelyn LaRue. LaRue led the team in assists and Hannah Sall led in points with 11. The Eagles will be back to action January 11th at Northview High School.

Eagles Win: 48 - 37
The Eagles started their Cornerstone Holiday Tournament tonight with a great win against Newaygo. The Eagles led from very early on and did not let up. Hannah Sall led the team with 16 points and Lydia Sall added 10 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals. Katelyn LaRue was in double figures for the fifth time this season with 12 and Alexia Meeuwsen added 7 rebounds with great defensive pressure. The Eagles return Wednesday for the tournament final against Kent City.

Eagles Win: 34 - 32
The Varsity Eagles took on the Holland Christian Maroons Thursday night in a close battle from the first horn. It was a lower scoring competition with many steals and stops from both sides on defense, but some breakthrough performances ultimately brought the Eagles out on top. The most notable being that of Freshman Sofie Hulst who stepped up to the line in the 4th down 1 to make 3 of 4 free throws and win the game. Hulst also was the top dog on the boards with 12 rebounds. Katelyn Larue continues to be a leader on the team adding the high score of the night with 14 points. The Eagles are back next week for Cornerstone Christmas Tournament action.

Eagles Lose: 39 - 41
After an eventful Tuesday night the Eagles could not seem to find the same offensive groove as they traveled to Catholic Central. The Cougars went into halftime with a lead and the Eagles were able to fight their way back, but could not close the gap in the fourth. Despite a great effort from Katelyn Larue, leading scorer on the game with 17 points and an added 13 rebounds from Lydia Sall, the Eagles fell just short. The Eagles will return next week with some more non conference action at Holland Christian.

Eagles Win: 61 - 60
The Varsity Eagles fought in a long battle Tuesday night with an overtime finish. The Eagles led steadily from the start with a huge 10 point first quarter from Hannah Sall, Sall did not let up and ended as the game's high scorer with 21. South Christian continued to stay in it with big buckets down the stretch, but multiple Eagles stepped up to ensure victory. Sofie Hulst contributed largely from the boards with 9 rebounds and Emma VanGoor played high intensity defense on a very talented South Christian opponent. Katelyn Larue also added 17 points and 6 steals. The Eagles remain unbeaten and will return to competition Thursday night at Catholic Central.

Eagles Win: 61 - 46
The Eagles came out ready to play to start their first game of the season against a veteran led Unity Christian. With a young lineup it did not matter as Lydia and Hannah Sall immediately dominated down low. The Eagles led early and never let up with both Salls finishing with double doubles. Hannah Sall had 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. Lydia Sall matched that with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 steals. Katelyn Larue rounded out the returning Eagles with a 12 point game and 4 steals. Emma Van Goor and Ariana Dusabe also each added 8 points. The Eagles are set to return Tuesday at home against South Christian.
