The Eagles traveled to Otsego Saturday and finished 2nd to advance to the MHSAA finals this Friday at Michigan International Speedway. The Eagles were led by Ben Zwart in 3rd, Jack Peterson in 7th, Dylan Clark in 22nd, Tinsae Nelson in 23rd, and Joe Waalkes in 27th. Complete results can be found at athletic.net

The Eagles took first at the MHSAA pre-regional race Friday at South Christian. After a rather rainy Thursday and Friday, the course at South Chr was wet, muddy, and slow, but the Eagles prevailed and move on to the regional meet at Otsego Saturday. Top five Eagles were Ben Zwart in first, Jack Peterson in 2nd, Tinsae Nelson in 4th, Dylan Clark in 11th, and Joe Waalkes in 14th. Complete results at athletic.net

The Eagles finished 2nd in the Black Division at the County Meet Saturday. Top 5 scorers were Reuben Wiering in 7th, Jasper Casamento in 10th, Henry Peterson in 12th, Jack Nelson in 14th, and Jon LaRue in 16th.
The Eagles also finished 2nd in the Blue Division. Top five scorers were Ewan Joliffe in 5th, Nathan Baker in 7th, Mitchell Winks in 9th, Nick Zwiers in 12th, and Sam Bollman in 13th. Complete race results can be found at athletic.net

The Eagles finished just 4 points out of first in the OK White final where the top three teams were Lowell at 66, EGR at 70, and GRCH at 70. Tinsea Nelson came from behind to finish first, followed by Ben Zwart in 7th, and Jack Peterson in 12th. Two freshmen, Dylan Clark and Joe Waalkes, finshed 23rd and 27th to complete the Eagle scorers. Tinsea, Ben, and Jack all made the all-conference team.

The Eagles finished third in a Tri-Meet with Calvin Christian and Potters House. The top five Eagle scorers were Jon LaRue in 9th, Rowan Jansen in 11th, Peter Kuperus in 14th, Noah Solle in 15th, and Andrew Huyser in 17th. Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles finished 7th in the Otsego Elite invitational Saturday. The flat 5K course, combined with cool dry weather brought numerous PR's for the Eagles. Ben Zwart led the team when he ran a PR time of 16:19. Jack Peterson was next with a PR of 16:30. He was followed by Tinsae Nelson in 16:55. The next four Eagles came in just seconds apart, and all with PR's. They were Jack Nelson in 17:30, Jasper Casamento in 17:30, Reuben Wiering in 17:32, and Dylan Clark in 17:34.
The Eagle JV team finished in 6th place, led by Henry Peterson running a PR of 18:05.

The Eagle JV's finished second to FHN on a rainy afternoon at Gainey Wednesday. Henry Peterson came from behind in the last half mile to finish first overall in 18:15. Jon Larue was third in 18:35 and sophmore Rowan Jansen was fifth in 18:35.

The Eagles were able to enter three different varsity teams in the CFE meet Saturday at Gainey. In the first race of the day, the Eagles finished third. Tinsea Nelson, Ben Zwart, and Jack Peterson, all broke 17:00 minutes to lead the Eagles. Reuben Wiering and Dylan Clark rounded out the scoring five.
In the Cougar division, the Eagles finished 9th. The Eagles were led by freshman Joe Waalkes followed by Jon LaRue, Henry Peterson, Rowan Jansen, and Noah Soole.
The Eagles finished sixth in the Gainey division. Sam Bollman was first across the line for the Eagles, followed by Ewan Jolliffe, Mitchell Winks, Nick Zwiers, and Andrew Huyser.

The Eagle moved up one spot in OK White Jamboree Wednesday to finish third. The Lowell course is considered one of cross country's toughest course as it winds it way over hills and trails along with several tight turns. Through in the heat of nearly 80, and the harriers had quite the challenge. Tinsae Nelson repeated his win of one week ago by pulling away from a group of runners over the final half mile. Ben Zwart was next for the Eagles in 8th, followed by Jack Peterson in 15th, Jack Nelson in 24th, Jasper Casamento in 32nd, Dylan Clark in 36th, Joe Waalkes in 39th, and Reuben Wiering in 43rd.

The Eagles lost in a dual meet to South Christian Saturday at Gainey. The cool conditions brought out many PR's and season's best though. Running their fastest race of the season were Nathan Baker, Sam Bollman, Blake Bouwman, Spencer Burg, Rowan Jansen, Ewan Jolliffe, Peter Kuperus, and Jon LaRue. The Eagles were led by Jon Larue's 6th place finish, followed by Henry Peterson in 9th and Rowan Jansen in 10th. The Eagles race again on Wednesday at Lowell.

Only 13 points separated the first 4 teams in OK White jamboree # 1 at Gainey Wednesday. EGR took first with 64, Lowell 2nd in 71, FHC and GRCHS both finished with 77 points. Junior Tinsae Nelson was able to race to first overall in 16:29. Other scores for the Eagles were Ben Zwart in 10th, Jack Peterson in 11th, Jack Nelson in 24th, and Jasper Casamento in 31st. The Eagles return to action once again Saturday vs South Christian.

The GR Christian Eagles took first in the annual Christian Schools Meet at South Christian Saturday. The Eagles swept the top three spots with Tinsae Nelson, Ben Zwart, and Jack Peterson. Juniors Jack Nelson and Jasper Casamento took 11th and 12th for the Eagles to finish with a team total of 29 points. South Christian was second place with 49 points.
Mitchel Winks took second place in the JV race followed closely by Seth VanOss, Ewan Jolliffe, and Nick Zwiers.

The Eagles finished second in their session at Benzie Saturday. Leading the way for the Eagles was junior Tinsae Nelson in 2nd place in a time of 16:30. He was followed closely by Jack Peterson and Ben Zwart in 16:40 and 16:41. Rounding out the top five for the Eagles were Jack Nelson in 17:51 and Reuben Wiering in 18:10. The Eagles next race on Wednesday, September 9 at home.

Eagles Lose: 27 - 28
The Eagles started the 2020 season with a narrow 1 point win over Forest Hills Eastern at Gainey Saturday. The Eagles were led by Juniors Tinsae Nelson in 2nd, and Ben Zwart in 4th. It was the strength of the teams 3-5 runners however, that secured the win for the Eagles. Senior Jack Peterson in 5th, Sophmore Reuben Wiering in 7th, and Junior Jack Nelson in ninth, were enough to top the Hawks. To watch the race go to face book page Eagles XC Fan Club 2020.
