Boys Varsity Cross Country vs. State Finals

Eagles Lose: -
In an extremely close finish, the Eagles ended their season with a 4th place finish at the MHSAA State Finals. Behind the 7th and 8th place races of seniors Tinsae Nelson and Ben Zwart, the Eagles completed a great season. Tinsae and Ben both moved up throughout the race to earn "all-state." Junior Reuben Wiering was 54th, Freshman Simon Triezenberg was 70th, and Sophmore Dylan Clark was 76th to complete the Eagles scoring 5. Sophmores Joe Waalkes in 119th and Jonathan Koetje in 189th rounded out the Eagles varsity 7.  Top 4 teams on the day - Otsego 135, Chelsea 147, St Johns 150 Eagles 160

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles took first place in the regional meet and move on to the state finals on November 6. The Eagles scored just 30 points in the meet. Tinsae Nelson was 2nd, Ben Zwart was 4th, Reuben Wiering was 7th, Dylan Clark was 9th, Simon Triezenberg was 11th, Joe Waalkes was 13th, and Jonathan Koetje was 25th. These 7 athletes will lace em up and represent GR Christian this coming Saturday at Michigan International Speedway. Details of the races are at the MHSAA web site.  Top 3 teams - Eagles 30, Springlake 73, Allendale 93

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles took the OK White final Wednesday night, and as a result won the league championship. As they have done all 4 league meets, Tinsae Nelson and Ben Zwart went 1st and 2nd and got the Eagles off to a great start. Reuben Wiering was 10th, Dylan Clark 15th, and Simon Triezenberg 19th to round out the Eagles scorers. Joe Waalkes in 30th and Jonathan Koetje in 36th rounded out the Eagles top 7.  Tinsae, Ben, Reuben, and Dylan all made the All-Conference first team, with Simon honorable mention. Top 3 league scores - Eagles 47, Lowell 56, EGR 60

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles took 8th at the County Meet Saturday at Gainey Athletic Fields. Jonathan Koetje led the way for the Eagles in 24th place. He was followed by Peter Kuperus in 34th, Jasper Casamento in 53rd, Keegan Hoekstra in 54th, and Seth VanOss in 66th.  The JV's finished fifth, led by Ewan Jolliffe in 20th, Nick Zwiers in 32nd, Calvin Brinks in 33rd, Tyler Davis in 37th, and Jacob Voetberg in 39th.  The Eagles compete in the OK White Wednesday at South Christian!

The Eagles came out on top in the 49 team field at Portage Saturday. Tinsae Nelson & Ben Zwart led the Eagles with their 2nd and 5th place finish. Reuben Wiering was next in 27th, followed by Dylan Clark in 41st, and Simon Triezenberg in 46th. Joe Waalkes in 88th and Rowan Jansen in 123rd completed the Eagles varsity.  Top 3 Varsity teams - Eagles 121, Chelsea 166, St Clair 256 The Eagles JV also won Saturday at Portage. The top Eagles were Jasper Casamento in 3rd, Jonathan Koetje in 7th, Keegan Hoeksrta in 15th, Peter Kuperus in 16th, and Seth VanOss in 54th. Top 3 JV teams - Eagles 80, EGR 88, Chelsea 107

With the first 5 boys all running PR's, the Eagles were able to take OK White Jamboree #3. Tinsae Nelson and Ben Zwart finished 1st and 2nd in 15:51 and 15:52. Next came Reuben Wiering in 8th with a 16:32. Simon Triezenberg and Dylan Clark rounded out the top 5 in 10th and 12th with times of 16:48 and 16:49.  Other PR's on the day were: Blake Bouwman, Tyler Davis, Keegan Hoekstra, Rowan Jansen, Levi VanderSloot, Parker VanHill, and Seth VanOss Top 3 teams - GRCHS 33, Lowell 55, EGR 75

The boys took 2nd place in a field that featured 3 of the states top 5 ranked teams. Ben Zwart broke 16 minutes for the third consecutive meet, taking 7th place. Senior team mate Tinsae Nelson was 15th, followed by Junior Reuben Wiering, sophmore Dylan Clark, Freshman Simon Triezenberg, sophmore Joe Waalkes, and sophmore Jonathan Koetje.  The JV team was paced by Peter Kuperus in 4th, Rowan Jansen in 9th, and Keegan Hoekstra in 17th. Top 3 varsity teams - Otsego 68, GRCHS 114, Adrian 130

The Eagles raced to a second place finish just 4 points out of first at the Gainey Saturday. Senior Ben Zwart broke 16 for the second straight race finishing second overall. He was followed by Tinsae Nelson in 7th, Reuben Wiering in 13th, Dylan Clark in 17th, and Joe Waalkes in 19th. Top JV for the Eagles was Mitchel Winks and top Freshman was Keegan Hoekstra. Top 3 varsity teams - Adrian 54, Eagles 58, Fremont 82

The cool temperatures brought down the times Wednesday night at Riverside. Jamboree # 2 was much like the first except this time Lowell edged out the Eagles by 3 points. The Eagles had numerous PR's on the night and won the battle up front as Tinsae Nelson and Ben Zwart went 1st and 2nd, both breaking 16 minutes. However, Lowell was able to win when their 3rd, 4th, and 5th runners all came in together.  Top 3 teams - Lowell 43, Eagles 46, FHC 77

The Eagles ran well despite the heat Friday afternoon at Riverside Park. Seniors Tinsae Nelson and Ben Zwart led wire to wire to claim the top 2 spots. Junior Reuben Wiering returned to action after sitting out last week with an injury. He finished 7th, with Freshman team mate Simon Triezenberg right behind in 8th. Sophmore Joe Waalkes rounded out the scorers in 14th place.  Top 3 varsity teams: Eagles 32, Traverse City St Francis 81, Whithall 117 On the JV side, Jasper Casamento took 2nd place, followed by Freshman Zach Hartemink in 9th, Mitchell Winks in 14th, Ewan Joliffe in 17th, and Nick Zwiers in 20th. Top 3 JV teams: TC St Fran 19, Eagles 56, Holland Chr 71

The Eagles traveled to South Christian to compete in one of Michigan's longest running invitationals. The Christian Schools Invite has been held for over 60 years. The Eagles ran great despite the return to very warm temps. The Eagles were led by Tinsae Nelson breaking 16 for the first time ever with a winning time of 15:58. He was followed closely by runner - up Ben Zwart. Winning the JV race was Rowan Jansen, followed closely by freshman Keegan Hoekstra in third.  Top three varsity scores - Eagles 33, Calvin 66, South 89 Top three JV scores - Eagles 34, Unity 49, Covenant 50

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles worked hard for the entire 5k and were rewarded with many strong performances and great kicks to finish. Pulling away at the end were seniors Tinsae Nelson and Ben Zwart both with PR's to take first and second. Sophmore Dylan Clark and Freshman Simon Triezenberg (PR too ) each blazed the last 200 passing an opponent and taking 12th and 13th. Next came Junior Reubing Wiering and  Sophomore Joe Waalkes out-kicking another opponent and beating him by less than 1 second and finishing 16th and 17th. Rounding out the Eagles top 7 was Sophomore Jonathan Koetje in 36th with a PR time of 18:25. Other Eagles earning a new PR were Armand Arakaza, Max Damstra, Tyler Davis, Keegan Hoekstra, Peter Kuperus, Parker VanHill, Jacob Voetberg, and Luke Witte.  Top 3 teams : GRCHS 44  Lowell 51  EGR 84

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles traveled to Benzie and finished third in the 29 team large school division. Leading the way were Seniors Ben Zwart in 15th and Tinsae Nelson in 18th. The next 4 Eagles were just 12 seconds apart as Junior Reuben Wiering was 34th, Sophopmore Dylan Clark was 35th, Freshman Simon Triezenberg was 42nd, and Sophomore Joe Waalkes was 48th. The Eagles were the first division 2 team in the meet.
