Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles finished 7th overall at the State Finals. The guys shot a great score again at 314 but the field performed better and it moved us to 7th place, 5 shots out of 5th place overall. Freshman Dylan Clark shot a career best 73 on the day, while Sophomore Alex VandenBerge shot a second straight 79 and Freshman Max O'Grady also shot a 79. Freshman Adam Workman rounded out the scoring for the Eagles with an 83. Our team shot the three best scores of the whole season in the last three events we played! 314 at Regionals, 312 on Day 1, and 314 on Day 2. Golf is hard and these players fought very hard to be there best at the end of the season when it mattered most. It was such a privilege to coach this group of young people! I enjoyed every mintue of every day with this group. So proud of our 12 boys this year for all we have worked through and accomplished together. The season would not have been as successful without all 12 players.  We had a great Eagles and Birdies Golf outing on Monday to raise support for our boys and girls golf programs. We had 20 groups participate and more than 10 sponsor groups! We honored Coach Bokhoven, had a "buy the Bokhoven" hole at a par three, and had a great day to do it all. If you still want to support us, please get in touch by responding to this email. Hopefully you can consider joining us next year at the event in support of our programs.  GO EAGLES!

Eagles Lose: -
On a really hot Friday at Bedford Valley Golf Course the Eagles showed up and played well, shooting 312, which puts them in 4th place overall after day 1 of the finals. There is no catching Brother Rice who shot a 290 today. We are proud of the players for managing the heat, staying mentally and physically strong so they could be their best. The Eagles were led by freshman Max O'Grady's 77, while freshman Nicholas Sherman shot a career best 78, and freshman Dylan Clark also shot 78. Rounding out the scoring was sophomore Alex VandenBerge with a 79. The Eagles will look to continue to manage the heat and enjoy the opportunity to learn and grow through this state finals experience Saturday at the same location. Go Eagles!

Eagles Lose: -
The Eagles took to Yankee Springs to compete with 16 schools. The top three team scores moved on to the State Tournament at Bedford Valley June 11&12. All five players in the lineup played solid and represented our school very well. We had a lot to celebrate was we qualified for the State Finals by finishing 2nd overall (318), while Byron Center (310) played fantastic and won the Regional by 8 shots. Sophomore Alex VandenBerge shot 76, earning 5th place overall in the Region, individually. Freshmen Dylan Clark and Adam Workman both shot 79, and Max O'Grady and Grant Hassenrik rounded out the scoring with an 84 and an 87, respectively. As an added bonus to the team's success, Coach Broene was awarded the honor of "Region 8 Coach of the Year." The Eagles qualified for the State Tournament as a team for the first time since 2015! This is a huge accomplishment and the kids have worked exceptionally hard for this! It is always the goal to be playing on the last possible day of the season, and this year, we will accomplish that goal. Congrats to the players and the families on a great season so far. It takes so much partnership to get to this point, and we are thankful for everyone's support. The Eagles will do their best to finish strong the next two weeks. Go Eagles!

Although the Eagles did not play their best today, finishing 5th in the tournament, that finish should not overshadow the great league season that they had! The guys worked hard all season in one of the more talented and competitive golf conferences in the state and finished 3rd overall in that conference! For today's tournament, the Eagles were led  by Freshman Max O'Grady's 82 and Freshman Dylan Clark's 83.  The fifth place finish today solidified GRC's (37 pts) 3rd place finish overall in the league standings! A fantastic accomplishment, that is well-earned. Forest Hills Northern (50 pts) won the conference, and East Grand Rapids (44) took second.  All-Conference honors are given to the top 10 best league average scores who competed in 7 events or more. Freshman Dylan Clark earned a spot in the top 10 with the 10th best qualifying average of 40.5. Freshman Adam Workman earned an All-Conference Honorable Mention.  The Eagles compete in the MHSAA Regional Championship on Tuesday at Yankee Springs Golf Course @ 9am. Top 3 teams will qualify for the State Finals on June 11 & 12.

Six Eagles played the final Jamboree of the OK White season at Boulder Creek. Using a fifth score tie-breaker, the Eagles finished in 1st place on the day. Top scorers for the Eagles were freshmen Nicholas Sherman (37) and Maxwell O'Grady (37). Freshman Dylan Clark shot 39. Rouning out the scoring was Sophomore Alex VandenBerge (40) and Junior Grant Hassenrik (40). The first place finsh put the Eagles in third place overall (29 points), trailing EGR (30 points), and FHN (34 points). The 18-hole Conference Tournament on Thursday will decide the final standings.  Eight other Eagles competed in a dual match against Catholic Central. The Eagles defeated Catholic Central 177-181 at Quail Ridge. Senior Peter Bos and Freshman Adam Workman both shot 43. Sohpomores Chase Dykhouse (45) and Parker Noesen (46) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles. This match marked the final match in the careers of our five seniors: Noah Alvesteffer, Peter Bos, Luke Homans, Carter Meyer, and Jared Zandee.  This senior class was one of the best examples of how to be a great teammate and servant leader that i have seen in my time coaching. Also available to help underclassmen, they dove in to developing relationship with guys in teh program. They worked hard every day, had a positive, upbeat, and uplifting attitude each day. I am proud to have had the chance to coach these young men. They are great examples of how to lead by uplifting others instead of themselves for the benefit of the team. They shared wisdom with our team about having patience, making the most of your opportunities, and trusting God to lead your life over the long haul, even when its difficult. Join me in thanking our seniors.

Egypt Valley proved to be quite the test for the Eagles when all six guys played there for the first time in a school  tournament format on Wednesday. With high winds and fast greens the young Eagles posted their highest competitive score this year. Dylan Clark and Alex VandenBerge shot 42, Adam Workman shot 43, and Max O'Grady and Nick Sherman both shot 45. The Eagles team score of 172 was good enough for 3rd place behind EGR (168) and FHN (163). Jack Zubkis of FHN did make a hole in one (!) on the 6th hole today during the match. Congrats to Jack and FHN on a great round today. The Eagles are securely in 3rd place out of 8 in the OK White standing, trailing EGR in second and FHN in first as we enter the final two Jamborees of the league season. The next event for GRC is Monday's jamboree at Railside Country Club.

The Eagles participated in their first varsity match of the season today at Thornapple Pointe Golf Course. A cold windy day turned in higher scores across the field. The Eagles finished in 7th place in their division and 8th place overall out of 18 teams. Match scoring highlights included a team low 85 from sophomore Alex VandeBerge, an 86 from freshman Dylan Clark, and an 88 from freshman Nicholas Sherman. Rounding out the scoring was Josh Pastoor (96) and Peter Bos (98). Nicholas chipped in for birdie at the 12th hole, while Peter chipped in on the 13th hole. It was a good showing for the Eagles early on in a season where the roster has zero players with varsity experience. The Eagles will compete again on Saturday at the Eagle Invitational at Quail Ridge Golf Course.
