On Saturday night the Eagles Varsity Volleyball team defeated Lake Odessa Lakewood to win the State Championship! The scores were 25-21, 25-15 and 25-16. Lakewood got off to a fast start and had a lead over the Eagles to start the match. The back and forth play made for an exciting first set. The Vikings would have a 15-11 lead until the Eagles settled in and began to make a comeback and the back and forth play continued until the Eagles secured the win. The next two sets the Eagles were rolling and there wasn't much Lakewood could do to slow down our offense. The Eagles also played exceptional defense which would frustrate the Vikings and keep them from being as effective as they had hoped. The Eagles would beat the Vikings in three sets and win the State Championship! GRC finished the season 46-3 and would have the first Back to Back State Championship ever! Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWiede with 28 kills and 9 digs, Jordyn Gates with 39 assists, 2 aces and 13 digs, Stephanie Stewart and Ayva Kooistra with 3 blocks each, and Laruen Peal with 2 aces and 8 digs and Ayva Kooistra would also hit .1000 with 6 kills and no errors! On Friday night the girls varsity volleyball team defeated Kingsley in the state semi final at Kellogg Arena. The scores from the match were 25-21, 25-14 and 25-10. Stat leaders for the match were Jordyn Gates with 28 assists and 15 digs, Addie VanderWeide with 19 kills and 9 digs, Lauren Peal with 3 aces and 11 digs and Ayva Kooistra with 3 blocks. The Eagles would go on to face Lake Odessa Lakewood in the State Finals on Saturday night. 

The girls varsity volleyball team defeated Hamilton in the quarterfinals of the state tournament on Tuesday night. The scores were 25-16, 25-20 and 25-11. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 16 assists, 3 aces, 10 digs and 3 blocks, Jorydn Gates with 2 aces, 25 assists and 12 digs, and Ayva Kooistra with 2. 5 blocks. The Eagles will play in the state semi finals on Friday night at 6:30 in Battle Creek against Kingsley. 

The Eagles played Coopersville in the regional finals on Thursday night and beat them in 5 sets. There was exciting back and forth play from start to finish. Coopersville stunned the Eagles in the first set with a score of 25-12 but the Eagles would answer back in the second set and beat the Broncos 25-16. GRC stayed on a roll and beat the Broncos in the third set 25-17 only to let Coopersville back in the 4th to take the set 25-19. The Eagles came out and dominated in the 5th and won 15-6. Your Eagles are Regional Champs!  Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 15 kills, 2.5 blocks and 14 digs, Jordyn Gates with 40 assists, 2 blocks and 12 digs, Evie Doezema with 14 kills, 1 ace, and 3.5 blocks and Lauren Peal with 3 aces and 11 digs. The Eagles will play Hamilton at Hamilton on Tuesday the 14th at 6:00.

The Eagles varsity volleyball team defeated Catholic Central on Tuesday night in the regional semi final. The scores were 25-11, 25-13 and 25-4. Stat leaders for the nights were Jordyn Gates with 34 assists, 2.5 blocks and 14 digs, Addie VanderWeide with 15 kills and 1 ace, Ayva Kooistra with 10 kills and 3.5 blocks, Lauren Peal with 13 digs and Liz Rupp with 3 aces. The Eagles will face Coopersville in the regional final at South Christian on Thursday at 7:00. The Eagles are now 43-3.

On Thursday night the varsity volleyball team defeated South Christian to clinch the District title. The scores were 25-12, 25-11 and 25-7. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 19 kills and 8 digs, Jordyn Gates with 31 assists and 2 blocks, Lauren Peal with 10 digs and 3 aces, Ayva Kooistra with 2 blocks and Stephanie Stewart with 2 blocks. The Eagles will play in the regional semi final on Tuesday the 12th at South Christian high school. 

The varsity volleyball team defeated Grand River Prep in the first round of districts on Monday night. The scores were 25-8, 25-10 and 25-5. Stat leaders for the night were Jordyn Gates with 31 assists, Lauren Peal with 9 digs, Liz Rupp with 3 aces, and Ayva Kooistra with 10 kills and 1 block. The Eagles will play Godwin Heights on Wednesday at 7:00 in the Quest Center. 

The girls varsity volleyball team defeated Forest Hills Eastern on Thursday night to win the conference title outright. The Eagles finished 12-0 in conference not dropping a set to any opponents. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 17 kills, 14 digs and 1.5 blocks, Jordyn Gates with 22 assists, 18 digs and 7 kills, Evie Doezema with 3 aces and Ayva Kooistra with 4.5 blocks. The Eagles will begin their post season on Monday the 4th at home in the Quest at 7:00. Currently the Eagles overall record is 38-3 for the season.

The Eagles varsity volleyball team played at Wayland on Thursday night. The Eagles defeated the Wildcats 25-12, 25-21 and 25-5. Stat leaders for the night were Alyssa DeVries with 21 assists, Addie VanderWeide with 16 kills and 1 ace, Lauren Peal with 14 digs, Ayva Kooistra with 2.5 blocks and 6 kills and Liz Rupp and Jordyn Gates with 1 ace each. The Eagles will play in their final conference match on Thursday the 31st at the Quest Center against Forest Hills Eastern and it will be senior night as well. The Eagles are 11-0 in conference and 37-3 overall.

On Tuesday night the Eagles varsity volleyball team defeated Wyoming in conference play. The scores were 25-11, 25-8 and 25-16. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 9 killsand 2 blocks, Evie Doezema with 9 kills, 2 aces and 2 blocks, Alyssa DeVries with 26 assists and Lauren Peal with 9 digs. The Eagles will head to Wayland Thursday night for a 6:30 match. 

The Grand Rapids Christian varsity volleyball team played in the Beast of the East tournament in Warren Michigan on Saturday.  It was a 32 team tournament with some of the best teams in the state including the #1 and #3 ranked in Division 1, the #1 (GRC) and #2 in Division 2 and the #1 in Division 3. The Eagles started the day with pool play defeating Kalamazoo Central (25-13, 25-12), Detroit Country Day (25-12, 25-23) and Utica Eisenhower (25-20, 25-17). They then played L'Anse Creuse in the crossover match and defeated them 25-10, 25-23. The Eagles went on to face Schoolcraft (#1 in D3) in the quarterfinals where they handed them their 4th loss of the season (25-20, 25-17). The win streak came to an end in the semi finals where the Eagles faced Lowell (#3 in D1) and lost 18-25 and 22-25.  Stat leaders vs Kalamazoo Central: Addie VanderWeide 8 kills and 3 aces, Jordyn Gates 19 assists and 2 blocks and Lauren Peal 6 digs. Stat leaders vs Lowell: Evie Doezema 10 kills, Addie VanderWeide 9 kills and 7 digs, Jordyn Gates 18 assists and 10 digs, Ayva Kooistra 3 kills and 1 block, Liz Rupp 7 digs and Stephanie Stewart 1 ace.

The Eagles varsity volleyball team defeated East Grand Rapids in 3 sets on Thursday night in conference play. The scores were 25-17, 25-18, and 25-18. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 18 kills and 12 digs, Evie Doezema with 14 kills, 2 blocks and 1 ace, Jordyn Gates with 35 assists and 2 blocks and Stephanie Stewart with 2 blocks. The Eagles are 30-2 for the season and 9-0 in conference. They head to Detroit on Saturday to play in the 32 team Beast of the East tournament. 

The Eagles varsity volleyball team played Thornapple Kellogg in conference play Tuesday night. The scores were 25-11, 25-15 and 25-15. Stat leaders for the night were Jordyn Gates with 23 assists and 4 aces, Addie VanderWeide with 16 kills and .5 blocks, and Lauren Peal with 11 digs and 3 aces. The Eagles will face East Grand Rapids on Thursday night at 6:30 at the Quest Center. 

The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles varsity volleyball team played the South Christian Sailors in a conference match on Thursday night. The scores were 25-10, 25-16 and 25-14. Stat leaders for the night were Jordyn Gates with 32 assists, 2 aces and 12 digs, Addie VanderWeide with 15 kills, 2 aces and 10 digs, Lauren Peal with 13 digs and 3 assists and Ayva Kooistra with 1.5 blocks and 9 kills. The Eagles will travel to Thornapple Kellogg next Tuesday the 15th and then host EGR on Thursday the 17th.

On Tuesday night the Eagles varsity volleyball team beat Forest Hills Eastern 25,13 25-14 and 25-10 in a conference match. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 13 kills and 4 aces, Evie Doezema with 3 blocks and 12 digs and Jordyn Gates with 19 assists. The Eagles will take on South Christian on Thursday at South at 6:30.

The Eagle played in a non conference match on Thursday night versus Hudsonville and lost a 5 set heartbreaker. The scores were 22-25, 25-21, 24-26, 25-21, and 12-15. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 18 kills and 11 digs, Jordyn Gates with 45 assists, 3 blocks and 31 digs, Lauren Peal with 16 digs, Liz Rupp with 3 aces and Evie Doezema with 16 kills. 

On Thursday night the Eagles varsity volleyball team played Wayland in a conference match. The Eagles won 25-14, 25-14 and 25-13. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 14 kills, Jordyn Gates with 27 assists and 3.5 blocks, Liz Rupp with 3 aces, and Lauren Peal with 13 digs.

On Saturday the Eagles varsity volleyball team played in the Rockford Power League tournament. The Eagles were undefeated beating Forest Hills Northern (25-12,25-16), Forest Hills Central (25-11, 25-16), Rockford (21-25, 25-17 and 15-8) and Portage Central (25-23, 25-21).  Stat leaders vs FHN: Addie VanderWeide 9 kills, Ayva Kooistra 2 blocks, Lauren Peal 2 aces and 6 digs, and Jorydn Gates 24 assists and 6 digs. Stat leaders vs FHC ;Evie Doezema 7 kills, Abbie Zylstra 2 aces, Addie VanderWeide 8 digs, Ayva Kooistra 3 blocks and Jordyn Gates 17 assists, 8 digs and 3 blocks.  Stat leaders vs Rockford: Jordyn Gates 28 assists and 19 digs, Addie VanderWeide 2 aces and 11 kills, Evie Doezema 10 kills and 1 block, and Lauren Peal 13 digs. Thursday night the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles varsity volleyball team played Wyoming in a conference match. The Eagles defeated the Wolves in 3 sets and the scores were 25-8, 25-9 and 25-12. Stat leaders for the night were Jordyn Gates with 22 assists and 1.5 blocks, Addie VanderWeide with 9 kills and 5 aces, Lauren Peal with 10 digs and 3 aces and Ayva Kooistra with 2 blocks. The Eagles will play Wayland and Hudsonville on Tuesday night at 5:30 and 6:30. 

On Tuesday night the Eagles played East Grand Rapids in a conference match. The Eagles defeated the Pioneers in 3 straight sets. The scores were 25-12, 27-25 and 25-16. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 12 kills, 1 block and 1 ace, Jordyn Gates with 27 assists, 2 aces, 5 kills and 19 digs, Evie Doezema with 12 kills, 1 block and 1 ace, Stephanie Stewart with 3 aces and Lauren Peal with 14 digs. The Eagles will take on the Wyoming Wolves on Thursday at Wyoming at 6:30.

On Saturday the Varstiy volleyball team played in the Portage Central Invitational. The Eagles won the tournament after defeating Plainwell (25-5,25-10), Byron Center(25-17,25-12) , Rockford (25-13,25-10), Gull Lake (25-11,25-15) and Schoolcraft (25-20,23-25,15-9). On Thursday night the Eagles varsity volleyball team played Thornapple Kellogg and defeated them in 3 straight sets.  The scores were 25-8, 25-10 and 25-13. Stat leaders for the night were Jordyn Gates with 22 assists and 11 digs, Addie VanderWeide with 10 kills, Evie Doezema with 3 aces and 3 blocks, and Ayva Kooistra with 3.5 blocks. The Eagles will travel to Portage Central on Saturday and then to East Grand Rapids on Tuesday. 

The Eagles varsity volleyball team played South Christian in their first conference match of the season last night. The Eagles beat the Sailors 3-0.  The scores were 25-19, 25-12 and 25-16. Stat leaders for the night were Jordyn Gates with 44 assists, Lauren Peal with 1 ace and 21 digs, Addie VanderWeide with 19 kills and 16 digs and Evie Doezema with 1.5 blocks and 13 kills. The Eagles will take on Thornapple Kellogg on Thursday at the Quest Center at 6:30.

The Eagles varsity volleyball team played in the East Kentwood Classic on Saturday. The team went 4-0 and won the tournament. The Eagles faced Holland Christian (25-16 25-18) and Forest Hills Central (25-12 25-10) in pool play. In the semi finals the Eagles played Rockford and beat them 25-17 and 25-11 and then went on to beat Hudsonville in the finals 25-18 and 25-10. On Saturday the girls varsity volleyball team played in the Rockford Rumble tournament.  The Eagles were 3-1 and lost to Hudsonville in the finals.  vs Byron Center - Stat leaders were Jordyn Gates with 29 assists, Lauren Peal with 19 digs, Evie Doezema with 2.5 blocks and Addie VanderWeide with 13 kills and 3 aces.  vs East Kentwood - Stat leaders were Jordyn Gates with 25 assists, Addie VanderWeide with 9 digs and 10 kills, Evie Doezema with 1 block and Abbie Zylstra and Lauren Peal with 2 aces each. vs Mattawan- Stat leaders were Jordyn Gates with 19 assists, Addie VanderWeide with 11 kills, 8 digs and 1 block, Ayva Kooistra with a block and Stephanie Stewart and Evie Doezema with 1 ace each. vs Hudsonville - Stat leaders were Jordyn Gates with 21 assists, Lauren Peal with 11 digs and 2 aces, Addie VanderWeide with 12 kills, Ayva Kooistra with 2.5 blocks, and Evie Doezema with 2 aces.  The Eagles will play in the Dig Pink event at Lowell at 3:30 on Friday and then on Saturday at the East Kentwood Classic tournament.   

The Eagles girls varsity volleyball team played in their first tournament on Saturday. They went 5-0 and won the Portage Central Invite. They beat Niles, Marshall, Rockford, Portage Central and Temperance Bedford in the finals. Stat leaders for the day were, Jordyn Gates with 96 assists, Evie Doezema with 13 aces and 6.5 blocks, Lauren Peal with 44 digs, and Addie VanderWeide with 33 kills. The Eagles will play in the Rockford Rumble next on September 7th.
