The Eagles varsity volleyball team played in the State Final match on Saturday night against Lakewood and beat the Vikings in 3 straight sets! The scores were 25-20,25-20 and 25-19. The first set was exciting back and forth action and the Eagles found themselves down 6-5 at the start of the match. Once they settled in the Eagles remained in control for most of the remainder of the three set competition. On Thursday night the Eagles played Cadillac in the State Semi Final match. The Eagles beat the Vikings 25-21,25-13 and 25-11. On Tuesday night the Eagles varsity volleyball team played Edwardsburg in the State Quarterfinals. The Eagles beat the Eddie's in three sets. The scores were 25-8, 25-17 and 25-9. The Eagles volleyball team played Whitehall in the regional semi final on Tuesday night. The scores were 25-7, 25-8 and 25-10. Thursday night the Eagles varsity volleyball team beat Forest Hills Eastern to win the District title. The scores from the match were 25-14,25-17 and 25-14. The Grand Rapids Christian volleyball team played Catholic Central on Wednesday night in the district semi finals. The scores were 25-18, 25-15 and 25-15. The Eagles varsity volleyball team lost to the Lowell Red Arrows on Tuesday night in the conference tournament finals. The scores were 25-27, 21-25, 25-21 and 16-25. The Eagles still clinched first place in the conference. The Eagles will play in round 2 of the conference tournament on Thursday at home at 6:00.

On Saturday the Eagles varsity volleyball team played in a quad with Byron Center, Marian and Mercy. They played two best of 5 matches against Mercy and Marian. The first match against Mercy was a 5 set thriller. The Eagles started the match dominating play and won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-23. The third set Mercy pushed back not willing to go down in 3 sets and pulled out the win 25-22. The fourth set was a back and forth fight with the Eagles falling just short 25-27. The fifth and final set Mercy had the momentum and beat the Eagles 15-12. Mercy is undefeated and ranked #1 in Division1. The Eagles will play East Grand Rapids Tuesday night at the Quest Center at 6:00. Their record is now 17-0.

The Eagles played Byron Center in a conference match Tuesday night and beat the Bulldogs 3-2. The scores were 19-25,28-26,20-25,25-22 and 15-9. It was a back and forth battle from start to finish with some amazing defense and powerful attacking on both sides. The Eagles dropped the first set but then battled their way back from a deficit in the second to win 28-26. The third set went back to the Bulldogs but then the Eagles took the fourth in another tight set. The Eagles pulled away in the fifth and won decidedly 15-9. The Eagles varsity volleyball team went 3-0 on Saturday in a quad invite at Rockford High School. Their first opponent was Rockford and it was a close match with back and forth play. The scores were 24-26,25-22 and 15-12. The Varsity volleyball team played Forest Hills Central in a conference match on Thursday. The Eagles beat the Rangers 25-20,25-21 and 25-16. Stat leaders for the night were Addie VanderWeide with 17 kills, 1 ace and 14 digs, Lauren Peal with 14 digs and 2 aces and 1 assist and Liz Rupp with 13 digs. Alyssa DeVries had 26 assists and Kate Breems had 3 blocks and 2 kills. Stephanie Stewart and Evie Doezema each had 4 kills. The Eagles are now 11-0 and will play at Rockford on Saturday in a quad. 

The Eagles played in a quad at Byron Center on Saturday. The teams in attendance were GRC, Byron Center, Rockford and Catholic Central. The Eagles played BC in their first match of the day and beat them 2-1. The scores were 25-22, 21-25 and 15-11. Stat leaders for the match were Addie VanderWeide with 20 kills, 1 ace, and 11 digs, Lauren Peal had 10 digs and 2 aces and Alyssa DeVries had 37 assists and 1 ace. Evie Doezema had 13 kills and 5 digs.  The second match of the day the Eagles played the Rockford Rams and beat them 25-20 and 25-15. Stat leaders for the match were Addie VanderWeide with 14 kills, 4 aces and 10 digs, Lauren Peal with 11 digs and 2 aces, and Evie Doezema with 11 kills and 1 block. Alyssa DeVries had 27 assists, 1 kill and 4 digs and Kate Breems and Stephanie Stewart each had a block and 2 kills. The last match of the day for the Eagles was against Catholic Central and the Eagles beat CC 25-19 and 25-15. Evie Doezema and Addie VanderWeide each had 11 kills and one block and Addie had 15 digs. Alyssa DeVries had 22 assists, 7 digs and 3 aces. Lauren Peal had 2 aces and 10 digs. The Eagles are now 10-0 and will play away at FHC next week in a conference match.

The Eagles varsity volleyball team beat Northview 3-0 on Thursday night. The scores were 25-7, 25-15 and 25-9. The Eagles varsity volleyball team played Lowell in their first conference match at Lowell on Tuesday night. The Eagles beat the Red Arrows 3 games to 1. Currently GRC is ranked #1 in D2 and Lowell is ranked #1 in D1. The sets were all very close and every point was back and forth. The scores were 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22. Stat leaders for the night were Evie Doezema with 20 kills and 2 blocks, Stephanie Stewart with 2 blocks and 11 kills, Lauren Peal with 13 digs, Emerson Williams with 12 digs, Liz Rupp with 12 digs, Addie VanderWeide with 14 kills and 10 digs and Alyssa DeVries with 47 assista and 2 aces. The Eagles will take on Northview at home this Thursday night. 

The Eagles varsity volleyball team had their first match of the season at home on Thursday night. The Eagles hosted Byron Center, Grand Haven and Rockford. GRC played Grand Haven first and beat them 3-0. The scores were 25-19, 25-10 and 25-15. Stat leaders for the match were Addie VanderWeide with 16 kills and 2 aces and 7 digs, Alyssa DeVries with 35 assists, Lauren Peal with 7 digs and Kate Breems and Evie Doezema with 1 block each. The second match of the night the Eagles played Rockford and beat them 3-0 as well. The scores were 25-17, 25-13 and 25-11. Stat leaders for the match were Liz Rupp with 3 aces and 12 digs, Lauren Peal with 20 digs, Addie VanderWeide with 19 kills and Evie Doezema with 2.5 blocks. The Eagles will play again on Saturday at East Kentwood.
