The wrestling team's season ended at Individual District Saturday as no wrestlers placed in the top four in their weight class..  Will Owens,, Isaiah Luke, Luke Selfe, and Harry Hilts all won their first round match but did not advance onto regionals.  The Eagles finish a great season having won more individual matches than they lost (187-163).

The Eagle wrestlers fell short of advancing from Districts on Wednesday night losing to Godwin Heights 28-47.  The Eagles were led with wins by Isaac Sung, Harry Hilts, Will Owens, DeWayne Goree, and Shan Rumbarose.

The Eagle wrestlers placed 6th at the OK White Individual Tournament Friday Night.  Senior Adam Persenaire and Sophomores Will Owens and John VanAntwerp all placed 4th in their respective weight classes. The JV wrestlers also did well with Armand Arakaza placing 2nd and Isaac Sung, Shan Rumbarose, and Tony Phillips all placing 4th.

The Eagles hosted Greenville and Wayland on Wednesday evening.  They lost to Wayland 16-55 ane defeated Greenville 39-36.  John VanAntwerps two pins led team.  Isaac Sung's three takedowns agianst Wayland led the team in takedowns.  Individual winners Wednesday evening were Armand Arakaza, Harry Hilts, Will Owens, DeWayne Goree, John VanAntwerp (2), Shan Rumbarose, Adam Persenaire, Isaiah Luk, and Tony Phillips.

The Eagle wrestlers placed 5th out of 10 teams at the Kelloggsville Rocket Tournament.  Senior Adam Persenaire and Sophomore John VanAntwerp both stood at the top of the podium after winning their respective weight classes.  Senior Isaiah Luk placed second and Junior Dewayne Goree placed fourth.  

The varsity wrestling team defeated Ottawa Hills 57-18 and Hopkins 48-35.  Adam Persenaire led the team with takedowns against Ottawa Hills with 5 takedowns.  Individual winners were Jack Dietz, Armand Arakaza, Isaac Sung, Josh Kennedy, Will Owens, Dewayne Goree, John VanAntwerp, Adam Persenaire, Isaiah Luk and Luke Selfe.  Against Hopkins, John VanAntwerp's 1:20 pin led the team.  Individual winners were Jack Dietz, Armand Arakaza, Dewayne Goree, John VanAntwerp, Adam Perenaire, Isaiah Luk and Luke Selfe.

The Eagle wrestlers fell to Greenville 0-81 and also fell to Northview 27-51. The wrestlers won 5 of the 8 matches wrestled against Northview but fell short on the team score due to forfeits.  Individual winners were Isaac Sung, Josh Kennedy, Will Owens, Adam Persenaire and Isaiah Luk.

The Eagle wrestlers won 7 out of 8 matches wrestled Wednesday evening but fell just short it team points, losing to Lee 40-39 due to having more forfeits (6) than Lee.  Freshman Jack Dietz picked up his first pin of the season in his win.  Freshman Michael Cool also stepped up and had a dominant 17-1 technical fall over his opponent.  Isaac Sung, John VanAntwerp, Adam Persenaire and Luke Selfe also all pinned their opponents.  Josh Kennedy won by a 22-9 major decision.

The Eagle wrestling team placed 9th out of 18 teams at the Unity Christian Invitational Saturday.  The Eagles filled 7 of the 14 weight classes and scored 51 team points to place 9th.  John VanAntwerp  led the team with his second place finish. Several Eagle wrestlers recorded two pins in the tournament but Isaiah Luk's combined time of 3:12 was the fastest.  Josh Kennedy's 19 takedowns once again led the team.

They Eagle Wrestlers placed 11th out of 16 teams wrestling against some of the top programs in the area Saturday,  Sophomore Will Owens 4th place finish led the Eagles. Sophomore John VanAntwerp placed 5th and Junior Josh Kennedy led the team with 15 takedowns. 

The Eagles lost two close duals Wednesday night as they fall 30-33 to Ottawa Hills and 36-42 to Northview.  Will Owens led the team with three takedowns against his opponent. Michael Cool led the team in nearfalls with two. The Eagles won three of the six matches that were wrestled.  Against Northview, Luke Selfe led the team with four takedowns while Isaiah Luk led the team with two nearfalls.  The wrestlers won four of the six matches that were wrestled.

The Eagles wrestled 3 times Wednesday evening. They started off against Keloggsville and won 5 of the 8 matches that were wrestled but fell short in team score 27-39 due to several forfeits.  Luke Selfe's last second takedown on the edge of the mat to win the heavyweight match 4-2 was the highlight of the dual.  The Eagles struggled against Unity Christian only winning 2 of the 5 matches that were wrestled and losing the team score 30-51.  The highlight of that dual was Josh Kennedy's 6 takedowns.  In the final dual of the night the Eagles lost to Northview 36-37 on tiebreaker criteria f (least number of forfeits).  The Eagles won 6 of 7 matches that were wrestled.  Harry Hilt's 8 second pin was the highlight of the dual.  

The wrestling team hosted a quad on Saturday and came up short in all three matches.  The Eagles lost to Allegan 28-42, lost to Portage Central 12-64 and lost to JW Sexton 35-42.  Luke Selfe and John Vanantwerp both led the team with 4 takedowns on the day and John also led the team with 6 nearfalls.  Will Owens' 14 second pin was fastest of the day followed by Shan Rumbarose's 44 second pin.

Teh Eagle wrestling team traveled to Saginaw Wednesday night and lost to HH Dow 23-48 and also lost to Saginaw Heritage 17-42.  John VanAntwerp lead the team with 2 wins to extend his season record to 7-0. Others who won matches were Josh Kennedy, Isaac Sung, Will Owens, Michael Cool, and Isaiah Luk.

The wrestling team won their first tournament in over a decade. Nine Eagle wrestlers paced in their weigh class.  Josh Kennedy, John VanAntwerp, and James Baker all placed first.  Second place finishers were Isaac Sung, Harry Hilts, and Adam Persenaire.  Armand Arakaza and Luke Selfe placed third, Will Owens placed fourth.  John VanAntwerp's 20 second pin in the quarter finals was the fastest Eagle pin of the day.  Josh Kennedy's nine takedowns lead the Eagles for the day. The Eagle Wrestlers started their season Thursday night by defeating Carson City- Crystal and Saranac.  The Eagles first dual of the night was against Carson City- Crystal.  The Eagles won 57-24, their only losses being due to forfeits.  GRC wrestlers won all four of the matches that were wrestled. Senior, Luke Selfe had teh match of the dual by defeating his opponent 13-9 in a high scoring heavy weight match.  Other match winners were Jack Dietz (forfeit), Armand Arakaza (forfeit), Isaac Sung (forfeit), Harry Hilts (fall 3:25), Will Owens (fall 5:33), John Van Antwerp (forfeit), Michael Cool (forfeit), James Baker (forfeit), and Adam Persenaire (fall 1:43). The Eagles competed extremely well their second dual defeating  Saranac 48-36.  Will Owens started out the dual with a pin in 4:32 seconds in a back and forth match.  Other winners against Saranac were John VanAntwerp (fall :23), James Baker (fall 3:20), Adam Persenaire (fall :42), Luke Selfe (fall :31), Armand Arakaza (fall :51), Isaac Sung (fall :17), and Harry Hilts (fall :40)
