Boys Freshman Basketball tops. Lowell High School 46-36

Eagles Win: 46 - 36
The Freshman Eagles hosted Lowell for their last game of the year. The Eagles played a great 1st half and they led at halftime 24-20. In the 2nd half the Eagles wanted to play great team defense and share the ball. They did just that. The Eagles scored 22 points in the 2nd and held Lowell to 16 points. They won the game 46-36. The Freshman Eagles had a great season. They finished with a record of 9-4. They are a great group of young men. I can't wait to watch them the next 3 years.

Eagles Win: 46 - 36

Eagles Win: 49 - 33
The Freshman Eagles traveled to Forrest Hills Northern Tuesday night. The Eagles knew it was going to be a battle all night. It was a back and forth game in the first half with both teams going on some big runs. At half time the Eagles were losing 19-18. The Eagles came out in the 2nd half and had a big run that was highlighted  by Quinton  Willis who had 11 points in a minute of game time in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles played great defense in the 2nd half allowing Forest Hills Northern 14 points. The Eagles won the game 49-33.  Quinton Willis led the Eagles with 16 points and 4 steals. Kuron Luster also had a great game with 11 points and 4 steals. The Eagles will host Lowell Thursday night for the last home game of the year.The tip-off will be at 4pm in the Quest center.

Eagles Win: 65 - 46
The Eagles traveled to Greenville Tuesday night. The Eagles came out a little sluggish from the long bus ride, trailing in the 1st quarter 16-14. After a few adjustments, the Eagles started to play team basketball. They got a big boost from Quinton Willis, who came off the bench and scored 12 points. The Eagles won the game 65-46. The Eagles had big games from Tommy Anderson, who finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 blocks. Carter Goodyke added 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 asst. The Eagles will travel to Byron Center Thursday night at 4pm for their next game.

Eagles Lose: 47 - 55
The Eagles welcomed East Grand Rapids to the Quest Center Saturday night. The Eagles got off to a hot start. They were leading East Grand Rapids 10-6 after the 1st Quarter. But after that the Pioneers got hot from 3 point land. The Eagles tried to stay close in the 2nd half. They played really hard and fought to the end. But they fell to the Pioneers 47-55.  The Eagles were lead by Carter Goodyke who had 8 points and 8 rebounds. The Eagles will travel to Greenville Tuesday night for a 4pm game.

Eagles Win: 28 - 24
The Eagles traveled to Lowell Tuesday night to take on the Red Arrows. The game was a low scoring, defensive struggle with both teams playing great team defense. At halftime the score was 12-10 with the Eagles leading. In the 2nd half it was more of the same, as both teams struggled to find a way to score. The Eagles outlasted the Red Arrows and won the game by a score 28-24. The Eagles were lead by Zay Caviness who scored 8 points, had 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 asst. The Eagles will welcome East Grand Rapids to the Quest Center Saturday afternoon at 4pm for their next game.

Eagles Lose: 40 - 48
The Eagles hosted Forrest Hills Northern Tuesday in the Quest Center. The Eagles came out flat in the first half only scoring 16 points. They trailed Forrest Hills Northern 37-16 at the half. The Eagles wanted to play with more heart  in the 2nd half and they did just that. They only gave up 2 points in the 3rd quarter and doubled their score. They trailed at the end of the 3rd 39-32. In the fourth quarter the Eagles got it down to a 4 point game, but just ran out of gas. They lost the game 48-40. The Eagles were led by Kuron Luster who finished the game with 12 points, 2 asst, and 3 steals. The Eagles will travel to Lowell on Thursday night at 4pm for their next game.

Eagles Win: 49 - 41
The Freshman basketball team traveled to Grand Rapids Catholic Central Saturday night for a big non-conference matchup. The Eagles came out on with a lot of energy on both sides of the ball and hitting 4 threes in the first half to take a 27-20 half time lead. In the 2nd half the Eagles used pressure defense to slow down Catholic Central. Jeremiah Jones came off the bench in the second half and had 9 points, including 7 straight points in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles made 12-16 free throws in the 4th quarter to put the game away and win 49-41. The Eagles were lead by Carter Goodyke who had 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 blocks. Isiaish Caviness had 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Eagles Win: 42 - 26
The Freshman boys basketball team played host to Northview Friday night at the Quest Center. The Eagles had 2 goals for this game: to come out with intensity and play team basketball. The Eagles came out with great energy and were ready to play from the start. They jumped out to a 10-6 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter they really picked up the intensity on the defense side of the court and ran for some nice, easy baskets. Grand Rapids Christian lead at halftime 21-16. In the 2nd half, the Eagles were led by Kuron Luster. He handled the ball and ran the team great. He finished the game with 11 points, including hitting 4 free throws in the final minutes to close the game out. The Eagles won the game by a score of 42-26. The Eagles were led by Zay Caviness who finished the game with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. The Eagles will travel to Grand Rapids Catholic Central Saturday night for a 4pm contest.

Eagles Lose: 29 - 56
Grand Rapids Christian freshman boys basketball team traveled to Forrest Hills Central to take on the Rangers. The Eagles couldn't match the energy from the Rangers in the first half and trailed at halftime 11-27. In the 2nd half the Eagles goal was to come out with more energy and to share the ball. While the Eagles played better in the 2nd half, they fell to the Ranges 29-56.  Quinton Willis stepped up with 8 points in the 2nd half and Elijah Compagner pitched in with 5 points in the 2nd half. Grand Rapids Christian will play Friday night at 4pm in the Quest Center against Northview.

Eagles Win: 52 - 31
The Eagles played host to Holland Christian Saturday night. Grand Rapids Christian came out with great energy and played a great first half . There goals were to play team basketball, share the ball, and help out on defense. The Eagles lead at halftime 22-15. In the 2nd half the Eagles came out and shot the ball really well, hitting 4 threes in the 3rd quarter, the Eagles lead 42-24. The Eagles held Holland Christian to 7 points in the 4th quarter and won the game 52-31. The Eagles were lead by Carter Goodyke with 15 points. Jeremiah Jones and Jordan Rodgers chipped in with 8 points each. The Eagles with treavel to Forrest Hills Central Tuesday night at 4pm for their next game.

Eagles Lose: 42 - 51
The Eagles hosted the Bulldogs from Byron Center on Friday night. Grand Rapids Christian came out in the first half and couldn't match the energy of the Bulldogs. They would trail at the half 25-16. In the second half the Eagles came out with a lot more energy and were ready to make a run. Grand Rapids Christian shared the ball and played great team defense. They cut the lead to 35-32 at the end of the 3rd. In the 4th the Eagles tried to stay in striking distance of the Bulldogs but just fell short, losing 51-42. The Eagles were lead by Zay Caviness and Carter Goodyke who both finished with 11 points. The Eagles wil host Holland Christian on Saturday night at 4pm in the Quest Center.

Eagles Win: 60 - 18
Grand Rapids Christian boys Freshman Basketball team took the court Tuesday night in the first game of the year. They played host to Greenville. The Eagles jumped out to a 13-4 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. In the second quarter the Eagles played tough defense and turned that in to offense. They scored 23 points and gave up 8 points to take a 36-9 lead into halftime. The Eagles came out in the 2nd half and played with energy and played together. They shared the ball and played great defense. Grand Rapids Christian out-scored Greenville 24-9 in the second half to win the game 60-18. The Eagles had balance scoring with 5 players scoring at least 5 points. They were lead by Carter Goodyke with 14 and Jeremiah Jones with 12 points. The Eagels will take the court next when they host Byron Center Friday night at 4pm in the Quest Center.

Eagles Win: 59 - 34
The Eagles returned to the court Saturday night as they traveled to East Grand Rapids. The Eagles were very excited to play again after 8 days off. They wanted to play with energy and play as a team. The Eagles played great defense allowing East Grand Rapids only 34 points for the game. They received great play from their bench, with Elijah Compagner hitting 2 big three pointers and Zach Clark playing great defense and finishing with 7 points. The Eagles won the game 59-34. All 9 players for the Eagles scored in the game. They played great team ball. The Eagles with travel to Forrest Hills Northern Tuesday night at 4pm for their next game.
