Boys Freshman Basketball Beats Byron Center 57-41

Eagles Win: 57 - 41
The Eagles traveled to Byron Center for the last game of the year Tuesday night. They came out ready to play and jumped out to a 19-8 first quarter lead. The Eagles never looked back and controlled the game. They won by a score of 57-41. The Eagles were lead by Aaron Gholston who hit 4 threes and finished the game with 15 points. Tyler Davis also had 15 points. It was a great season by the Freshman Eagles finishing with a record of 16-2. I look forward to watching these boys on the court for the next 3 years. They are going to do great things on and off the court for Grand Rapids Christian.

The Eagles traveled to Forrest Hills Northern Friday night for a conference game. The Eagles came out with a lot of energy.  They jumped out to a 16-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. They won the game 50-26. The Eagles were lead by Tyler Davis who scored a game high 14. John Cassidy hit 2 big threes and finished with 6 points. The Eagles will travel to Byron Center on Tuesday night for the last game of the year.

The Eagles returned to the court Tuesday night to take on the Red Arrows from Lowell. The Eagles won the game 58-13. They were lead by Declan Winstanley who had 13 points and Aaron Gholston who finished with 12 points. The Eagles will return to the court Friday night at Forrest Hills Northern.

The Eagles returned to action Friday night to take on Forrest Hills Central. They jumped out to a 10-3 lead to  start the game and never looked back. The Eagles won the game 59-33. Tyler Davis had a game high 17 points. Jake Koejte had 4 three pointers in the game and finished  the game with 15 points. The Eagles will play their last home game Tuesday night against Lowell.

The Eagles hosted a very good team from Byron Center Tuesday night. It was a back and forth game all the way to the end with each team making good runs. Byron Center made the last run and won the game 40-42. The Eagles will return to action Friday night.

The Eagles returned to action Friday night, taking on East Grand Rapids. They were ready to play and jumped out to a 32-16 lead in the first half. The Eagles came out in the 2nd half and wanted to focus on sharing the basketball against the East Grand Rapids zone. The Eagles did that with 6 players scoring at least 6 points. They won the game 63-28. The Eagles were lead by Declan Winstanley who finished with 17. John Cassidy finished with 12 points including 3 three pointers. The Eagles have 2 home games this week.

The Eagles took on Northview Tuesday night. They were excited to get back on the court and it showed in the first half as they took a 34-14 lead into halftime. In the 2nd half it was more of the same as they outscored Northview 34-18. They won the game 68-32. The Eagles had 9 of 10 players score, including 3 in double figures. They will host East Grand Rapids Friday night at 5:30pm in the All City Gym for the next game.

The Eagles took on Northview Tuesday night. They were excited to get back on the court and it showed in the first half as they took a 34-14 lead into halftime. In the 2nd half it was more of the same as they outscored Northview 34-18. They won the game 68-32. The Eagles had 9 of 10 players score, including 3 in double figures. The Eagles traveled to Greenville Friday night to take on the Yellow Jackets. The Eagles took control of the game early and never looked back, winning by a score of 65-32. For the 2nd game this year, everyone scored for the Eagles. The game was highlighted by Ador Mawut's dunk in the 4th quarter. The Eagles will travel to Northview Tuesday night at 4:00pm.

The Eagles hosted Greenville Tuesday in the Quest Center. They came out ready to play and played great defense. They also shared the ball on offense. It was a great team effort. The Eagles won the game by a score of 68-25. They were lead by Declan Winstanley who finished with 19 points. John Cassidy and Jake Koetje each had 6 points. The Eagles will travel to Greenville Friday night.

The boys freshman team took on Forrest Hills Northern Friday night. It was a back and forth game through the first half with the Eagles winning at halftime 18-9. The Huskies came out of half time and made a nice run cutting the lead for the Eagles to 20-15 midway thru the 3rd quarter. After that, the Eagles locked down on defense and shared the ball. They took control of the game and won by a score of 56-17. It was a great team effort with everyone scoring for the Eagles. They will play Greenville on Tuesday at the Quest Center.

The Eagles took on Lowell Tuesday night. They jumped out to an early lead of 18-9 at the end of the first quarter. The focus to start the 2nd quarter was defense and to play fundamentally sound. They did just that by only allowing 11 points to be scored the rest of the game. The Eagles won the game 72-20. They had a balanced scoring attack with 4 players scoring at least 10 points. The Eagles return to action on Friday night against Forrest Hills Northern.

The Eagles traveled to Forrest Hills Central to take on a good FHC team Friday night. It was a great game with both teams batting. They would each make big runs in the game. But in the end the Rangers would prevail winning the game 57-51. The Eagles were lead by Jake Koetje and Ador Mawut who finished the game with 10 points. The Eagles return to the court Tuesday night at Lowell.

The Eagles traveled to East Grand Rapids Friday night. They jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first 3 minutes of the game and never looked back. The Eagles won the game 59-30. The Eagles were lead by Tyler Davis who set the tone early, scoring 10 of his game high 21 points in the 1st quarter. Nasir Zimmeran came off the bench and gave the team some great minutes, scoring 6 points and 3 steals. The Eagles will travel to Forrest Hills Central Friday night for their next game.

The Freshman Eagles returned to action Tuesday night as they played host to Northview. The Eagles were excited to get back on the court after not having a game for 26 days. They jumped out to a 32-22 lead at halftime. In the 2nd half the Eagles came out and played a great 16 min of basketball. They outscored Northview 33-14 in the 2nd half. They won the game 65-36. They Eagles were lead by Declan Winstanly who had 15 points. Ador Mawut added 13 points. The Eagles will travel to East Grand Rapids Friday night for a 5:30 contest.

Grand Rapids Christian boys freshman basketball team played host to Holland Christian Thursday night. It was a great game. It was a back and forth game in the first half. Both teams played great. The Eagles were able to make a run in the 3rd quarter to pull away. The game was highlighted by a Ador Mawut dunk on a fast break in the 4th quarter. The Eagles won the game 54-36. Ador Mawut led the Eagles with 16 points. Jake Koetje added 6 points. The Eagles have a nice holiday break and get back on the court January 4, home against Ottawa Hills.

Eagles Win: 49 - 24
The boys freshman team traveled to Hudsonville to take on the Eagles from Hudsonville. Grand Rapids Christian came out ready to play. They jumped out to a 24-8 half-time lead. In the second half Gr Christian wanted to work on their offense and share the ball. They scored 25 points in the 2nd half. Gr Christian won the game 49-24. They were lead by Declan Winstanley and Tyler Davis who both scored 10 points. John Cassidy and Will Ver Steeg each scored 8 points. It was a great team effort. The next game will be Thursday night at home vs. Holland Christian at 5:30pm.

The Boys Freshman team took to the court Friday night against Grand Rapids Catholic Central. The goal was to play great defense Friday night. The Eagles did just that, holding Grand Rapids Catholic Central to just 14 points for the game. The Eagles won 49-14. The Eagles were lead by Aaron Gholston who had 12 points. They got a big boost from Jacob Rodenhouse who finished the game with 7 points. It was a great team effort by the Eagles with everyone playing. The next game will be Tuesday at Hudsonville at 4:00pm.

Eagles Win: 52 - 37
Grand Rapids Christian boys freshman basketball team tipped off the season playing host to South Christian. The boys were very excited to step on the court to start their high school careers. The Eagles got off to a fast start really focusing on defense. Tyler Davis and John Cassiday set the tone with their pressure on South Christian guards holding them to only 13 points in the first half. The Eagles came out in the 3rd quarter and doubled up South Christian 16-8. They took a 39-21 lead going into the 4th quarter. The Eagles got a big spark in the 4th quarter from Nasir Zimmerman. He scored 5 points in the quarter. The Eagles won the game by the score of 52-37. The Eagles were led by Tyler Davis who scored a game high 17 points. Ador Mawut had a great game scoring 6 points and had 4 blocks. The Eagles will return to action Friday against Grand Rapids Catholic Central in the Quest Center at 4pm.
