Boys Freshman Basketball finishes the season with a big win over Wyoming 68-40

Eagles Win: 68 - 40
The Freshman boys hosted Wyoming Thursday night for their last game of the year. It was a tight game in the first quarter with the game tied at 13. The Eagles tightened up their defense in the 2nd quarter and lead at halftime 29-16. The Eagles got hot in the 2nd half and scored 39 points. They won the game 68-40. They were lead by Ajak Gieu who had 18 points. Caden Hoving played a great game and scored 7 points.  The Freshman Eagles had a great season and finished with a record of 18-2. Great Job boys! Go Eagles!

Eagles Win: 59 - 33
The Boys Freshman team welcomed Forest Hills Central to the Quest Center Tuesday night. The Eagles jumped out to a 20-5 lead in the first quarter and never let the Rangers back in the game, The Eagles won 59-33. 11 Eagles scored and were lead by Connor Johnson with 12 points, including a dunk in the first half. Ty Damstra had a good game off the bench and finished with 6 points. The Eagles will take to the court Thursday night for the last time this season.

Eagles Win: 50 - 45
The boys freshman Eagles welcomed Northview to the Quest Center Thursday night. Both teams came out and played hard and physical. Both teams made runs in the first half with the Eagles winning at halftime 26-20. In the 2nd half it was a close game. The Eagles made just enough plays to win the game 50-45. Ty Moody lead the Eagles with 13 points, Oliver Strater added 10, and Will Bush had 8. The Eagles will return to the court Tuesday night at the Quest Center.

The Freshman boys traveled to Greenville Tuesday night. The boys got out to a great start and lead at halftime 25-6. In the second half Ike Ondersma had 7 points, Davis Hutt had 6, and Banks Mcninch had 5 points. This fueled the Eagles to a 59-13 win. The Eagles were by Ty Moody with 15 points and Luke Olney with 10 points. The Eagles will play host to Northview Thursday night at the Quest Center.

The Freshman boys played Forest Hills Central Tuesday night. The Eagles started out slow in the first quarter, but would lead after the 1st 16-15. The Eagles gained control of the game in the second quarter and never trailed again. They won the game 51-38. Ajak Gieu lead the Eagles with 16 points. The Eagles will travel to Lowell Thursday night for their next game.

Eagles Win: 47 - 43
The Eagles traveled down the road to play East Grand Rapids Thursday night. It was a very tight game all the way through the first half with the Eagles trailing at the half 21-17. East Grand Rapids came out in the second half hot from the 3 point line and opened up a 10 point lead late in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles decided to throw out the twin towers look with having Ty Moody and Oliver Strater both in  as centers. That worked as the Eagles would fight back and force overtime. In overtime David Pontarelli would hit a huge 3 to put the Eagles up for good and they would win 47-43. It was a great team win for the boys. Ty Moody lead the Eagles with 14 and Oliver Strater had 13. The Eagles return to the court Tuesday night at Forest Hills Central.

The Freshman Eagles welcomed Forest Hills Northern to the Quest Center Tuesday night. It was a high scoring back and forth game in the first half with the Eagles taking a 34-31 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Eagles tightened up on the defense side of the ball and held the Huskies to 13 second half points. The Eagles won the game 59-44. Connor Johnson lead the Eagles with 22 points and Ty Moody chipped in with 13. The Eagles travel to East Grand Rapids Thursday night for a big game.

The Freshman boys traveled to Byron Center Tuesday night. The Eagles struggled all night. They couldn't find rhythm on offense throughout the game. They would lose the game 36-24. The Eagles look to bounce back Tuesday night at the Quest Center.

The freshman boys traveled to Grandville Tuesday night to take on the Bulldogs. It was a tight and defensive game with no team having a lead of more than 5 points all night. The game came down to the wire, with Connor Johnson hitting a 26 footer with 5 seconds left in the game to win the game for the Eagles 38-36. Connor Johnson and Will Bush lead the Eagles, each scoring 11 points. The Eagles will travel to Byron Center Thursday night.

The freshman Eagles traveled to Northview Thursday night for a big conference game. The Eagles came out hot scoring 20 first quarter points. They lead 20-5 after the first. The Eagles never let up on the defense side of the court and shared the ball offensively. The Eagles won the game 60-30. 10 Eagles scored in the game. It was a great team effort for 32 minutes. The Eagles travel to Grandville Tuesday night.

The Eagles welcomed Greenville to the Quest Center Tuesday night. The Eagles started out slow offensively only scoring 17 points in the first half. But the Eagles were locked in on the Defensive side of the court only giving up 10 points. They took a 17-10 lead into halftime. In the second half the Eagles wanted to get the ball in the paint and use their size. Oliver Starter stepped up and scored 9 points in the 3rd quarter. They continued to shut down Greenville in the second half. The Eagles won the game 56-19. 10 Eagles scored in the game. Luke Olney had a nice game scoring 8 points. The Eagles will travel to Northview Thursday night.

The Freshman boys played Benton Harbor Saturday afternoon. It was a back and forth game in the first half with the Eagles winning at the half 23-22. In the second half the Eagles outscored Benton Harbor 41-22. The Eagles won 64-44. Connor Johnson lead the team with 23 points. Ty Moody owned the paint scoring 16 points. The Eagles will welcome Greenville to the Quest Center Tuesday.

The boy's freshman basketball team welcomed Lowell to the Quest Center Thursday night for a conference game. The Eagles wanted to come out and play as a team. They just did that, with 10 Eagles scoring in the game. The game was highlighted by Conner Johnson's 2 dunks. The Eagles won 58-13. The next game will be Saturday at noon at Pinewood Middle School.

Freshman boys welcomed East Grand Rapids to the Quest Center Thursday night for a big conference game. The Eagles were excited to play and it showed right from the tip. They hit 5 threes in the first half to take a 26-15 lead into halftime. The Eagles came out a little slow in the 3rd, giving up some easy buckets. They stepped up in the 4th quarter to win the game 44-36. The Eagles were lead by Ty Moody who scored 10 points. Oliver Strater had a great 4th quarter with some timely blocks and rebounds. The Eagles will return to the court next Thursday night against Lowell.

The freshman boys traveled to Forest Hills Northern Tuesday night for a conference game. The Eagles came out slow losing in the 1st quarter 9-4. In the 2nd quarter the Eagles wanted to turn up the intensity and get out and run. They did just that, taking a 20-18 lead into halftime. In the second half the Eagles came out and turned up the defense  outscoring Forest Hills Northern 26-9, to win the game 46-27. The Eagles were lead by Ajak Gieu and Conner Johnson with 13 points. Will Bush added 10 points. The Eagles will play Thursday night against East Grand Rapids.

The Freshman boys returned to the court Friday night after a 3 week break. They hosted a very good Byron Center team. The game was a classic with teams making plays down the stretch. The game was highlighted by a steal and a huge 3 by David Ponarelli with 1 minute left in the 4th quarter to tie the game and send it to overtime. In overtime the Eagles took control of the game with a big 3 by Conner Johnson and big defensive stop with 6 seconds left. The Eagles won the game in overtime 47-44. The Eagles were lead by Will Doema with 11 points and Ajak Gieu who had 10. The Eagles will return to the court Tuesday at Forest Hills Northern.

The Freshman boys traveled to Cornerstone University Friday night to play against Grand Rapids Catholic Central. The Eagles played a great game. They locked down Catholic Central only allowing 37 points for the game. The Eagles won the game 45-37. The next game for the Eagles is January 6 at the Quest Center.

Eagles Win: 48 - 30
The freshman boys played Ottawa Hills Thursday night. It was a close game in the first half with Grand Rapids Christian leading at halftime 18-15. In the 2nd half the Eagles came out more aggressively and with a lot of energy. They doubled up Ottawa Hills 30-15 and won the game 48-30. The Eagles had a balanced scoring attack with four players scoring 9 points each. The Eagles return to the court Tuesday night as they play their first home game against Hudsonville.

The Freshman boys traveled to South Christian for the first game of the year. It was a great game. Both teams played hard and fought to the end with the boys from Grand Rapids Christian pulling out a thrilling 42-41 win. The Eagles were lead by David Pontarelli who finished with 10 points. The Eagles will Travel to Ottawa Hills Thursday for a 4:00pm tip for their next game.
