Girls Junior Varsity Lacrosse vs. Portage Northern High School

Eagles Lose: 5 - 9
Eagles Junior Varsity fought hard against Portage Northern, losing 9-5! Goals were scored by junior attacker Adelyn Hoekzema (3), senior attacker Sara Muir, and freshmen midfielder Morgan Cocco. Sara Muir was credited with winning 4 draws and controlling 2. Sophomore goalie Elise DeYoung was credited with no less than 13 saves. The Ground Hog Award was awarded to junior Bree Lane, scooping up 6 ground balls over the course of the game. For her hustle, good work on clears and defending through the midfield, Molly Christians was awarded Defensive Player of the Game. With 1 assist, Adelyn Hoekzema was awarded Laxister of the Game. Way to go Eagles!!

Eagles Junior Varsity fell to Caledonia 17-2! Goals were scored by junior Bree Lane and senior Sara Muir. The team’s Award for Defensive player of the Game was given to Bree Lane for her hard work and hustle across the field, as well as her many ground balls. The team’s Ground Hog Award was awarded to freshmen Jaline Henderson, scooping up 3 ground balls over the course of the game. For clearing space for her teammate to score, senior Madison Wolters was awarded Laxister of the game. Way to go Eagles!!

Eagles Lose: 1 - 16
Eagles Junior Varsity fought hard against Spring Lake, falling to them 16-1. Goal was scored by senior Sara Muir, assisted by freshman Ella Prins, making Ella the Laxister of the Game! Sophomore goalie Elise DeYoung was credited with 7 saves over the course of the game, also winning her the award for Defensive Player of the Game. With 3 ground balls, the team’s Ground Hog Award was awarded to Bree Lane. Way to go Eagles!!

Eagles Girls JV Lacrosse started their week with a tough loss in a 4-10 loss to Grand Haven. Goals were scored by Morgan Cocco (2), Rehn Oosterman (1) and Ella Roossien (1).  Defensive player of the game was Bree Lane for her consistent blocking across the entire field. The team’s Ground Hog Award went to Adelyn Hoekszema with 3 and the Lax Sister was awarded to Morgan Cocco for her tenaciousness across the field and her assists.  Way to go Eagles!!

Eagles Lose: 5 - 11
Eagles Junior Varsity Girls Lacrosse fell to Forest Hills Central 11-5 but not without a fight!  Goals were scored by Morgan Cocco (2), Rhen Oosterman (1), Ella Roossien (1), Madison Wolters (1).  Freshman Jaline Henderson won and controlled two draws and fellow Freshmen Morgan Cocco and Ella Roossien also won a draw each.  Sophomore Goalie Elise De Young had and impressive 15 saves earning her the Defender of the Game award!  Laxsister for this game was Junior Adelyn Hoekzema for her presence wherever she was needed on the field, and the ground hog award went to Junior Bree Lane for her 7 groundballs.  Way to go Eagles!!!

Eagles Junior Varsity snagged victory over West Ottawa, defeating them 15-1! Goals were scored by sophomore Rehn Oosterman (6), freshman Ella Roossien (3), senior Lauren Warner (2), freshman Jaline Henderson, and Adelyn Hoekzema. Midfielder Molly Christians was credited with winning and controlling 5 draws, and midfielder Jaline Henderson was credited with winning 3 draws and controlling 1. Defensive player of the game was awarded to Ella Prins for her hard work and hustle across the field. The team’s Ground Hog Award was awarded to Jaline Henderson, who scooped up 7 ground balls over the course of the game. With 2 assists each, Rehn Oosterman and Lauren Warner were awarded Laxister of the game. Way to go Eagles!!

Eagles Win: 10 - 6
Congratulations to the Eagles Girls’ Lacrosse Junior Varsity on their first win of the season overcoming Hudsonville 10-6. Teaming up with a few girls from the baby Eagles of Hudsonville, we were able to put together a competitive game! For the GRC players, goals were scored by senior athlete Sara Muir (3), Bree Lane, Rehn Oosterman, and Ella Roossien. The team’s Laxister for the game was a tie between Bree Lane and Ella Roossien. The teams’s GroundHog Award is also awarded to Bree Land and Ella Roossien with four ground balls each. Very nicely done Ladies! Go Eagles!!
