Girls Freshman Basketball Takes Down Lowell

Eagles Win: 61 - 27
The girls freshman team finished their season Tuesday night in the best way with an absolute blowout against Lowell. Aanzhenii Dandridge started out with a hot hand to put the Red Arrows in trouble early, scoring 10 points in the first quarter. The Eagles went into the second quarter up 17-2. In the second quarter Madison Peal started to get hot making some great shots spurred on by Ellie VandeGriend's ferocious work on the boards. Then to start the second half KJ Callwood and Za'Nya Mosley each were hitting buckets to help the Eagles pull away even more. VandeGriend, Jori Koons and Cassidy Holtz found stops on defense and baskets on offense in the 4th. Every Eagle made their way to the scoring column for the cherry on top to a great finish of the season. Four Eagles finished in double figures led by Dandridge and Callwood with 13 a piece and Peal and VandeGriend each with 10.

Eagles Lose: 20 - 39
The freshman girls improved greatly in their efforts against our strongest conference opponent on Tuesday night. KJ Callwood helped the Eagles with some baskets in the first quarter and Za'Nya Mosley and Aanzhenii Dandridge added some big defensive stops. They had moments where they were able to close the gap, but ultimately came up just short. Callwood finished as the leading scorer followed by Aanzhenii Dandridge. They are back next week Tuesday.

Eagles Lose: 37 - 40
The freshmen girls fought a very tough battle Friday night against a strong conference foe in EGR. KJ Callwood came out strong putting the Eagles in a great position scoring 10 in the first half. Aanzhenii Dandridge also added two three balls in the first half. The girls came out after halftime down 4, but continued to stay in the game with solid defensive stops led by Dandridge and Za'Nya Mosley. Callwood finished as the game leader with 15 points. The Eagles are back Tuesday night against Byron Center.

Eagles Lose: 37 - 49
The Freshmen Eagles came just short on Tuesday night after a back to back battle for most of the game. The Eagles went into halftime down 1 with a well-paced first half led by Za'Nya Mosley and Ellie VandeGriend. The Eagles found some great shots in KJ Callwood in the third and great offensive attack through Aanzhenii Dandridge who made it to the free throw line four times in the third. But Northview found a way to pull away at the end and the Eagles were not able to close out for the win. VandeGriend led the team with 11 points followed by Mosley and Callwood with 8. The Eagles are back Friday night at home against EGR.

Eagles Win: 34 - 14
The Freshman Eagles were able to double down on Greenville wins this week with another 20 point victory Friday night. Paige Ferwerda led the way on offense with 13 points followed by KJ Callwood who added 8 points and many defensive rebounds and stops. Ellie VandeGriend also contributed largely in the assist column. The Eagles continue into the second round of conference play with a game Tuesday night.

Eagles Win: 47 - 21
The freshman Eagles traveled to Greenville hungry for another conference win. Starting with a great first quarter from KJ Callwood, the Eagles never looked back. They led the whole game and were able to get everyone in the scoring column. Three Eagles ended in double digits, Callwood had 13 followed by Za'Nya Mosley with 11 and Ellie VandeGriend with 10. The Eagles will face Greenville again Friday and are ready for another team win.

Eagles Win: 62 - 17
The Freshman Eagles absolutely took over from the first minute of the game Tuesday night with contagious energy and lockdown defense. The Eagles tied up the Red Arrows nearly every possession in the first and were able to convert on offense led by Aanzhennii Dandridge who scored 11 points in the first quarter. Madison Peal was also automatic behind the arc with 5 three pointers, ending with 15 points. However, Dandridge did not stop after 1, she ended as the high scorer on the night with 27 points only playing three quarters. Every Eagle made their way to the scoring column and also was able to get great defensive stops. It was a fantastic team win.

Eagles Lose: 20 - 55
The Eagles fought hard to start and led the game on and off in the first quarter with some big shots from KJ Callwood. The Bulldogs began to pull away in the second and the Eagles had a hard time getting their shots to fall. Ellie VandeGriend found some big rebounds and added a few made baskets. Madison Peal also came up big on offense, but the Eagles could not ultimately keep up. The Eagles are done with competition for the week and will be back next week.

Eagles Lose: 26 - 39
The Freshman Eagles started out strong with a loud first quarter from Madison Peal. Peal knocked down three 3 pointers in those 8 minutes to put the Eagles out in front going into the second. Aanzhenii Dandridge then controlled the second quarter for the Eagles, but the Pioneers were able to make some shots sending the Eagles down 5 going into halftime. The girls could ultimately not claw their way back. Peal finished with the game high 12 points. Eagles are back next week against Byron Center.

Eagles Lose: 42 - 49
The girls freshman team came out HOT on Thursday night with 6 three pointers in the first quarter! Madison Peal sunk 2, Aanzhenii Dandridge added 3 and Ellie Vandegriend had one. The Eagles went into the second quarter up 20-7 and the Maroons of HC were very eager to fight back. The Eagles held off while they could, but especially coming out of haltime the Maroons were not ready to give up, despite a couple more big 3's from Peal in the third. After a super tight fourth quarter, the Eagles ultimately fell to the also sharp shooting Maroons. Dandridge led the team on offense with 14 and Peal just behind her with 13. VandeGriend also added 7. The Eagles are back after the holidays for competition.

Eagles Lose: 24 - 30
The Freshman team had another close game Thursday night with a great come back in the fourth quarter to get them very close with the Cougars of Catholic Central. The Eagles offense was very even with the three leading scorers being Aanzhenii Dandridge, Madison Peal and Cassidy Holtz. The Eagles will be back next week against Holland Christian.

Eagles Lose: 32 - 45
The girls freshman team came up just short on Tuesday night with a very solid performance from Paige Ferwerda. Ferwerda led the team with 18 points and Aanzhenii Dandridge followed with 8 points. The Eagles fought hard and will return to competition Thursday at Catholic Central.

Eagles Lose: 20 - 29
The freshman Eagles started their season tonight with a tall and tough Unity Christian team. However, led by Paige Ferwerda the Eagles were able to stay close and went into halftime only down 1. Ferwerda continued to lead the Eagles through the second half and ended with the game high 8 points. Other great offensive movement came from Madison Peal who was the second leading scorer. The Eagles will return Tuesday at home against South Christian.
