It is hard to monitor 70 athletes when they go out on a run. They run different distances, go different paces, and sometimes, they head in different directions. The coaches instruct them what to do each day but are not always present to know what happened during each run. GPS technology, however, can provide crucial data such as to how far each runner ran and more importantly, how they ran it. Did they speed up throughout the run? Slow down? Stay steady? Did they take their easy day easy or did they push too hard? What were their splits during a workout? This data combined with a brief reflection of their run has lead to many great conversations and coaching moments! However, GPS watches are not cheap! While many of our runners have invested in this technology, others are not able to. We owe a HUGE Thank You to our Boosters, Donors and Advertisers for helping us to purchase 10 Garmin Forerunner 45 GPS watches that we can now loan out to our runners as needed. We are happy to report that currently, all of our Cross Country runners now have access to a GPS watch! |
