Boys Swim and Dive Seniors!

Tommie Anderson

  • Parents: Andy and Becky Anderson
  • Plans for next year: I have not decided where to attend yet but I am planning to major in finance.
  • Favorite Bible verse: Mathew 22:39 “And the second is like it, Love your neighbor as yourself".
  • Advice for teammates: Be better than you were yesterday.
  • Favorite swim team memory: Teaching the new swimmers at our bring a friend to practice day this year.

Gerrit Boer

  • Parents: Chris and Dawn Boer
  • Plans for next year: I will be attending Marian University in Indianapolis where I’ll be majoring in business and minoring in Spanish.  I’ll also be on the varsity cycling team.
  • Favorite Bible verse: Micah 6:8 “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God”.
  • Advice for teammates: Work hard in the pool and in the gym and listen to Pype.
  • Favorite swim team memory: Surfing with the team in San Diego.

Isaiah King

  • Parents: Zach King and Sharon Segaar-King
  • Plans for next year: I’m undecided where, but I’ll be majoring in mechanical engineering.
  • Favorite Bible verse: Psalm 83
  • Advice for teammates:  Keep pushing even when you fall.
  • Favorite swim team memory:  Winning

Grayson Montpetit

  • Parents: Marc and Charlene Montpetit
  • Plans for next year:  I’m planning on going to college for finance or accounting but haven’t decided where yet.
  • Favorite Bible verse:  John 13:7  “Jesus replied, ‘You do not understand what I am doing, but later you will understand.’”
  • Advice for teammates:  Lean into hard work.
  • Favorite swim team memory:  Bring a friend to swim practice.

Maxwell O’Grady

  • Parents:  Paul and Brigit O’Grady
  • Plans for next year: I will be golfing and studying financial planning at Spring Arbor University.
  • Favorite Bible verse: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 “Do you not know that in a race all the runnders run, but only one gets the prize?  Run in such a way as to get the prize.  Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training.  They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.  Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.  No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”
  • Advice for teammates: Work hard because it always pays off.
  • Favorite swim team memory: Winning the 400 free relay in 2022 at states.

Ben Sytsma

  • Parents: Jerry and Lynn Sytsma
  • Plans for next year: I will be attending Texas A&M where I’ll be swimming and majoring in biomedical engineering on a pre-med track.
  • Favorite Bible verse:  Ephesians 2:10  “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  
  • Advice for teammates:  Do things the right way, not the easiest way.
  • Favorite swim team memory:  Both the Winterim trips.=

Isaiah VanHorn

  • Parents: Jason and Kellie VanHorn
  • Plans for next year:  I plan on going to Calvin University, and I’ll major in either computer science or business.
  • Favorite Bible verse: Psalm 23:4 "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me."
  • Advice for teammates: If you can't meet the intervals during practice, never give up and skip yards. You will become a better swimmer way faster if you do as much as you physically can during practice.
  • Favorite swim team memory:  Hanging out with the team on the San Diego trip

We honored our seniors whose dedication and leadership have inspired us all season long.  Their contributions both in and out of the pool exemplify the true spirit of our team.  We will miss them next year, but we're excited for the opportunities that God has for them.
