Celebrating Varsity Girls Tennis Seniors

Betta Klein

Parents: Jane and Chris Klein
Favorite Tennis Stroke or Favorite Tennis Memory: Watching and cheering on my teammates who dominated at states last season and brought home three state titles! 
Give thanks to anyone you would like: I would like to thank my parents for being absolute champs on our long tournament days!
Plans for Next Year: Betta plans to continue on to college, and is still considering her options currently. 
 

Rachel Larsen

Parents: Jill and Chris Larsen 
Favorite tennis memory is learning and playing with my favorite doubles partner and friend, Lucy 
Thankful to Coach Vu and Ally for teaching me how to play tennis for the first time last year 
all three of my coaches this year!bb Also, thankful to Lucy for being the best doubles partner and friend anyone could ask for, and my parents and my grandpa for their endless support.
Plans for Next Year: Jessica plans to attend Butler to study business and spanish

Natalie Poortenga:

Parents: Doug and Anne Poortenga
Favorite Tennis Memory: Staying in a hotel as a team before states each year! 
Give thanks to anyone you would like: I would like to thank my parents for always coming to my events and supporting me in so many ways! Also to my siblings, who make time in their busy schedules to be there for their little sister. 
Plans for Next Year: Calvin University. I am considering studying Journalism, Editing, or Music Education.
Favorite Bible Verse: "For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." Isaiah 41:13
 

Alex VerMeulen

Parents: Kara and Chris VerMeulen 

Favorite Tennis Memory:  Freshman year state tournament in Holland.

Give thanks to anyone you would like: Tennis coach Clayton Hodge and my family

Plans for Next Year: Attend Calvin University on a premed track

Frankie Volkema

Parents: Timothy and Merideth Volkema

Favorite Tennis Memory: My favorite memory was staying in the Comfort Inn at state and hanging out with the team!
Give thanks to anyone you would like: I would like to thank God, my parents for always supporting me, my wonderful teammates for always making me laugh, and my coaches for caring. 
Plans for Next Year: I will be attending Princeton University. 
Favorite Bible Verse: “The Lord bless you and keep you;  the Lord make his face shine on you  and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26

 
We thank our seniors for all their incredible contributions to the girls tennis program. The impacts they have made on this program are endless and they will not be forgotten. We will miss our seniors so much but we are excited to see where their life journeys take them next. Can't wait to see all the amazing things these 5 accomplish. Go Eagles!
