Lilly Kate deVries

Parents: Nathan and Amy deVries

  • How I get pumped up for a meet: Listening to Levitating by Dua Lipa
  • Plans for next year: Stay close and study pediatric occupational therapy
  • Favorite Bible verse: “In the same way, I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born,” says the Lord. “If I cause you the pain, I will not stop you from giving birth to your new nation,” says your God. Isaiah 66:9
  • Advice for teammates: Attend every event you can and meet new people
  • Favorite memory: Learning the Teen Beach Movie Choreography

Emmarie VanOss

Parents: Jack and Faith VanOss

  • How I get pumped up for a meet: Jamming out in the car to Pitbull or Black Eyed Peas
  • Plans for next year: Attending Palette Cosmetology Academy in Saugatuck in cut and colo
  • .Favorite Bible verse: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
  • Advice for teammates: It’s hard to be thankful for the sport and the team in the moment because it can all seem overwhelming but some of my best memories in high school have come from these girls and at this pool so don’t take it for granted.
  • Favorite memory: Sleeping in a closet with Ella VandenBerg and Ella Vliem at our sophomore year team sleepover.

Ella Vliem

Parents: Josh and Tonya Vliem

  • How I get pumped up for a meet: Meet Meat
  • Plans for next year: Attend college somewhere warm and study biomedical engineering.
  • Favorite Bible verse: So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.  2 Corinthians 4:18
  • Advice for teammates: Find a balance between it all. Swim and Dive is a huge time commitment, and it can be hard to balance everything physically, mentally and emotionally. Finding a healthy balance and people who support you makes all the difference.
  • Favorite memory: Learning how to stunt and being thrown in the air at our sophomore year cottage party

Lindsey Wierenga

Parents: Steve and Amber Wierenga

  • How I get pumped up for a meet: Listening to Hot Wings
  • Plans for next year: Going to Ferris State University and majoring in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Favorite Bible verse: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  2 Timothy 4:7
  • Advice for teammates: Socialize! When you join this team, you make a commitment to spend 12+ hours a week for 3 and a half months with these wonderful girls. This team is like a sisterhood, so show up to bonding, do the themes and get to knoweveryone!
  • Favorite memory: It’s a tie between destroying the national anthem at senior night my sophomore year and when my cap and goggles fell off while swimming the 500

Seniors,

It's hard to believe that August 2021 is already four years ago. It's been such a joy to watch you grow from unsure freshman, to confident sophomores, and incredible upperclassmen leaders over the last four years. You have showed up to the pool each day and brought a joy, empathy, and dedication to hard work that will be hard to match.

Your leadership has been present in many ways - whether it's Emmarie leading devotions, Lindsey planning the next team event, Ella encouraging someone who had a hard day, or Lilly Kate cheering in the eagle head. You will be missed deeply!

As you transition to the next busy, exciting part of your life I pray these words from Hebrew over each of you!

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,  equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21)

Your coaches, your team, and I will be praying for you in your transition to what is next - cheering for you always! Go Eagles.

Coach Groenenboom
