From Coach Dan Hoekstra: Calvin exemplifies the true spirit of a scholar-athlete through his unwavering hard work, determination, and leadership both in the classroom and through his running of cross country and track. Balancing a rigorous academic schedule with the demanding year-round training required for distance running, Calvin has consistently demonstrated remarkable discipline and drive. His impressive grades reflect his commitment to excellence in his studies, while his performances in both cross country and track showcase his athletic talent and relentless work ethic. Beyond his personal achievements, Calvin has inspired his teammates and classmates, leading by example with integrity, perseverance, and a positive attitude. His dedication sets a powerful standard for what it means to excel both academically and athletically.

From Coach Sara Knoester: Alayna has been a member of the track and field team for four years. From the very first day she stepped foot on the track, she has been an incredibly determined and hard working athlete. She is always willing to try new things, and is attentive to all feedback she receives from her coaches. What truly sets Alayna apart is her remarkable team spirit. When she is not competing, her voice can be heard the loudest from the infield, passionately cheering on her fellow teammates. Her presence, leadership, and energy will be greatly missed next year!

From Coach Amy Huiskens: Congratulations to Alayna on receiving the Scholar-Athlete Award, it is so well deserved! Over the past four years, Alayna has poured into the Grand Rapids Christian volleyball program. She's been more than just a strong, encouraging voice on the court, she's been one of her teammates' biggest supporters. Her determination to elevate those around her, both in competition and in everyday life, sets her apart.

Alayna’s relentless work ethic and “zero days off” mindset continue to inspire everyone who knows her. We are incredibly proud of all that she has accomplished and can’t wait to see her thrive at Miami!
