Schrotenboer, Rich (2014)
Rich Schrotenboer, a 1964 South Christian graduate, began his teaching career in 1968 after graduating from Calvin College. Rich taught math for 42 years at Grand Rapids Christian High and loved every day of it.
Coach Schrotenboer loved all aspects of Eagles Athletics and served 15 years as an assistant coach in the football program. On the hard court, he coached JV boys basketball for 13 years and was an assistant coach at Calvin College for three years. Rich coached the Eagles boys varsity basketball team for 14 years with a record of 204-98, earning five city league championships, four district and two regional championships.
Rich served as Athletic Director from 2003 to 2005-06 and continues to mentor the athletic department staff. Rich is the announcer for all of the boys and girls basketball games, bringing a warmth and style that makes everyone feel at home.
Coach Schrotenboer walks the walk as a Christian coach, teacher and mentor. Thousands of students and student-athletes alike have benefitted from his wisdom and inspiration.
