The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles end their season playing number one ranked North Branch High School falling in 3 sets in the state semifinal. The Eagles finished this game with the same grit and tenacity they have played with all season. Though they were not able to take control of the match they played hard, forcing the Broncos to earn each point.
Grace Goodyke stood out on offense with 16 kills followed by Kayden Warren with a .750 hitting efficacy and zero errors for the entire match. Mallory Bremer was a standout for the match with 13 digs, a passing average of 2.7 and 2 aces leading to many offensive opportunities. Grace Spoelma led with 17 assists followed by Hanna Bredeweg with 15, challenging a very efficient Bronco defense.
The team played a good match against a formidable opponent displaying their skills as volleyball players. Beyond this great achievement this team will leave a legacy of strong leadership by its six incredible Seniors. Ella Boorsma, Rachel Larsen, Grace Spoelma, Hanna Bredeweg, Savannah Bol, and Kayden Warren will be remembered for their leadership and the great passion for Eagles volleyball. They have paved a way of success for the classes to come and will be remembered as great volleyball players but more importantly, fantastic teammates.
The Eagles end their season with a record of 36-12-1. During their season they had a winning streak of 9 games in a row and took home the win at two tournaments: The West Catholic Invite and the Rockford Rock and Rumble. Their record for the post season was 5-1 ending a very successful 3 months. GO EAGLES!
