The young Eagles secured their first win of the season against the South Christian Sailors in what was a fantastic atmosphere showcasing two great programs. This matchup was an exciting season opener for both teams.

Taking the court with no returning starters from last season, the Eagles showed some early nerves. However, as the game progressed, they settled in and played impressive basketball for such a young squad. The Eagles maintained a fast-paced tempo, forcing the Sailors to adapt to an uptempo game. The three-point shooting was great for the Eagles tonight, giving them a significant edge.

Defensively, the Eagles caused problems for the Sailors throughout the game. Their size and athleticism allowed for varied defensive looks that disrupted the Sailors’ rhythm. Rebounding and defense were the big factors in tonight’s victory.

The Eagles’ balanced scoring effort made them tough to defend, with multiple players contributing in double figures. Carl Thompson led the team with 26 points, while Braylon Taylor added 12 in an impressive varsity debut. Connor Johnson contributed 10 points, providing a strong presence on both ends of the court.

Tyler Davis’s leadership played a pivotal role in guiding the young team to success. Ador Mawut, Ajak Gieu, and Will Doezema also made significant contributions to the Eagles’ win.

The Eagles came away with a hard-fought road victory, defeating the Sailors 72–55. This performance sets a strong tone for the rest of the season.
