The young Eagles secured another hard-fought road win, edging out the Hudsonville Eagles in an overtime thriller, 77–76. The game featured an incredible atmosphere, showcasing two of the top teams in the area in what truly was the “Battle of the Eagles.”
Playing their third game without any returning starters, Grand Rapids Christian is showing rapid growth and maturity. The first quarter was tightly contested, ending in an 18–18 tie. As the game progressed, the Eagles found their rhythm in the second quarter, playing impressive basketball for such a young team. The fast-paced tempo forced Hudsonville to adjust, while the defense stepped up, giving Grand Rapids Christian a 36–29 lead at halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Eagles made key adjustments that slowed Hudsonville’s momentum and extended their lead to 50–40 by the end of the third quarter. Throughout the game, multiple players stepped up to make big plays, but Hudsonville responded with clutch moments of their own, ultimately forcing overtime.
In overtime, free throws proved to be the deciding factor, and the Eagles came through under pressure, securing a 77–76 victory.
