The Eagles headed into East Grand Rapids, missing a few key players. However, that didn’t deter their determination on their performance. The Eagles came out of the gate with intensity, putting up 18 points in the opening quarter while holding the Pioneers to just 7. From the very first possession, the Eagles' defense set the tone, creating opportunities and shutting down East Grand Rapids’ offense. By the end of the 1st quarter, the Eagles held a commanding 18-7 lead.
In the 2nd quarter, the Eagles continued their defensive dominance, allowing the Pioneers to only 9 points. Meanwhile, their balanced offensive attack propelled them to a 32-16 halftime lead. The combination of relentless defensive pressure and scoring showcased the team’s growth and maturity despite their lack of experience.
Coming out of halftime, the Pioneers found some rhythm. The Eagles would match their opponent’s intensity and preserved a 44-29 advantage heading into the final quarter. In the 4th quarter, East Grand Rapids made a late push, narrowing the gap and testing the Eagles' resilience. However, the Eagles leaned on their defensive identity to deliver stops and hold off the Pioneers' comeback attempt. The Eagles secured their third straight win with a hard-fought 60-48 victory.
The win brings the Eagles to 7-4 on the season and highlights their ability to thrive in the face of challenges. Four players scored in double figures, led by Carl Thompson’s standout 23-point performance. Connor Johnson contributed 13 points, while Aaron Gholston shined with 12 points.
